The so‑called little wives are the she‑wolves they snatched from other wolf packs.
There's more than just the Gale Grey Wolf pack in the Spirit Source Land. Back at the start, Yang Zhenshan caught a whole bunch of jackals, wolves, tigers, leopards and other wild beasts and released them into the Spirit Source Land. These beasts have bred there for several generations, and many of them have now turned into Mutant Beasts.
Later on, many Mutant Beast races were brought into the Spirit Source Land as well, including a few from the Wolf Clan.
The Gale Grey Wolves used to bully these other wolf packs all the time—grabbing their territory, stealing their wives, and sometimes even taking their cubs.
If it weren't for the Beast Hall keeping an eye on things, the Gale Grey Wolves would've wiped those packs out long ago.
