"Everyone listen up, take the straw and hay from the carts and spread them all over the road ahead." Ye Shikai thought of a plan, instructing everyone to move the dry grass and hay down from the carts and lay it ahead. He intended to ignite the hay to form a flame barrier, blocking the approaching robbers. Initially, these were meant for the horses to eat, but right now, there's no time to worry about that. Burning the hay is better than burning the grain.
"Quickly, everyone start working together." The crowd cooperated and quickly piled up a mound of hay as tall as a person. Meanwhile, distant figures started emerging; it seemed the robbers were catching up.
Ye Shikai recalled a cart of fine wine that was originally intended for guests at a wedding banquet; now it seemed it would only be for soup.
"People, open all these bottles and pour the wine onto the hay." Ye Shikai commanded.
"What, General, how much should we pour?"
"All of it."
"Yes, sir."
