Chapter 598 - Chapter 598: I Forgot You Were Here

[Korath looked at Star-Lord, "Take him away!"]

[Star-Lord raised his hands in confusion, "Why?!!"]

[Korath said coldly: "Ronan wants to ask you a few questions!"]

[After saying this, he turned around and was about to leave, but Star-Lord called him back.]

["Hey! Do you know? I have another name! I'll scare you to death if I tell you!"]

[Korath turned his head when he heard this.]

[Star-Lord said with a self-important look on his face: "My name is Star-Lord!"]

[Unexpectedly, Korath looked puzzled, "Who?"]

[His reaction disappointed Star-Lord, "Star-Lord! Man! That legendary outlaw! Haven't you heard of him?"]

[Korath spread his hands dismissively. He didn't care about some petty thief and repeated: "Take him away!"]

[Star-Lord looked a little deflated, "Forget it!"]

[Then he kicked hard, launching the glowing sphere that was placed on the ground towards the two Kree soldiers behind him.]

[The light ball shattered, and the energy it released immediately disintegrated the two soldiers into ashes.]

[Korath heard the commotion and turned around. Star-Lord had already run towards him quickly, pulled out an energy pulse pistol from his jacket, and knocked Korath directly to the ground.]

[Just as Star-Lord picked up the fallen orb and put it in his bag, he discovered that Korath, who had been shot twice by him, was not dead, and stood up again to fire back at him.]

[Star-Lord reacted very quickly and dodged the energy blast by bending backwards. The energy projectile went straight through and made a large hole in the wall.]

[Korath was about to fire again, but Star-Lord immediately pressed a switch, put on his helmet, and activated the boot jets under his feet.]

[Korath immediately opened fire, but Star-Lord was fortunate enough not to be hit by Korath's second shot and flew away from the palace.]

[Then he fell heavily to the ground, rolled over a few times, and then started running without even taking a breath.]

[Korath missed his target twice in a row, which made him furious. He jumped out of the palace shouting orders.]

[Star-Lord quickly ran to his spaceship, but found that several of Ronan's soldiers were guarding it.]

[One of the soldiers saw him and immediately opened fire.]

[Star-Lord evaded the attack with agility and threw the triangular gravitational device he had just used to extract the orb to the feet of several Kree soldiers.]

[As the device unfolded, the powerful gravitational field immediately pulled several people around it together in a cluster.]

[Star-Lord knew that Korath was still pursuing him from behind, so he stepped on several soldiers while they were trapped in the gravitational field and jumped into his spaceship.]

[Because of his poor form, Star-Lord tumbled inside. He groaned in pain, then stood up decisively, went to the pilot's seat, and started the spaceship's engines.]

[At the same time, the triangular gravitational device outside that was restraining those soldiers lost its power. Korath arrived in front of them and yelled at them to deploy the energy cannon.]

[As soon as Star-Lord's spaceship took off, he saw them setting up the energy cannon. He immediately evaded the attack of the heavy weapon with a nimble evasive maneuver and sped away.]

["Hahahahaha!!!" Star-Lord, who had escaped death, couldn't help but burst into triumphant laughter. He looked back and saw Korath angrily berating the soldiers.]

[Star-Lord, who was feeling so proud of himself, didn't expect that he would be struck by a column of water rising into the sky not long after he flew out.]

[The powerful geyser pushed Star-Lord's spaceship upwards, and the ship's engine immediately stalled and lost power.]

[When the momentum was exhausted, the spaceship began to rotate nose-down in free fall, and Star-Lord was also bouncing around inside the cockpit.]

[Fortunately, Star-Lord grabbed the pilot's seat at the critical moment and successfully pulled the ignition lever, allowing the spacecraft to regain power and avoid crashing and dying on the planet Morag.]

[Star-Lord, who survived the near-disaster, sat in the spaceship and gasped for breath. Before he could regain his composure, a female voice was heard.]

["Peter? What's going on?"]

[A red-skinned, attractive woman with disheveled hair climbed up from under the spaceship's sleeping area and looked at Star-Lord in confusion.]

[Star-Lord looked at the woman and couldn't remember her name for a moment, "Hey! Uh... I..."]

[Bereet tilted her head and looked at Star-Lord. Seeing his embarrassment, she took the initiative to say, "Bereet!"]

["Bereet! To be honest with you, beautiful lady! I forgot you were here!"]

As the scene played out on the screen, a stunned silence fell over the Avengers' common room.

Rhodey was the first to break it, shaking his head in disbelief. "Seriously? This guy is a legendary outlaw? I thought our Peter's emo phase was bad, but this is a whole other level of embarrassing."

Natasha smirked. "In the file we're building on him, his danger level is probably a D, but his cringe factor is off the charts. Galactic-level."

"Agreed," Hill nodded curtly from her station.

Tony leaned back in his chair, a classic smirk playing on his lips. "Pathetic. At least I remember the names of the women I… associate with." The broadcasts were one of the few things that could still coax a genuine joke out of him these days.

Bruce Banner, however, was watching with purely scientific fascination. "A red-skinned humanoid… she appears almost identical to a human, aside from her pigmentation." He was the boy abducted from Earth, that much was clear. The fact that he could be… intimate… with this alien woman implied a startling degree of biological compatibility. Was it possible there was no reproductive isolation between their species? As a biologist, Banner found the implications astounding.

Aboard the Milano, the atmosphere was far less academic. Rocket was cackling with glee. "Honestly, Quill, it is an absolute miracle you are still alive! You're the sloppiest, luckiest fool I've ever seen!"

Quill's face flushed with irritation. He pursed his lips and stared straight ahead at the wormhole, refusing to give Rocket the satisfaction of a response.

Gamora stared at him, her expression a mixture of disdain and dawning comprehension. "I'm beginning to understand why so many women you've met have tried to kill you."

Quill just sank a little lower in his pilot's seat, fidgeting awkwardly. He knew when to keep his mouth shut.

[Inside Star-Lord's spaceship, 1980s pop music was playing from the sound system.]

[The TV was displaying recent galactic news reports.]

["Today, small-scale demonstrations are spreading across the Kree Empire! Protesting the peace agreement recently signed between the Kree Supreme Intelligence and Nova Prime of Xandar!"]

[Star-Lord stood in front of the monitor and watched the report. Bereet sat at the table behind him with her legs bare.]

[At this time, the communicator on the table chimed, and Yondu's holographic portrait was displayed on it.]

["Peter! Your call!"]

["No! Don't answer it!" When Star-Lord turned around to stop her, it was too late. She had already activated the communication.]

[Yondu's head appeared on the monitor, and he called out with a displeased look on his face: "Quill?"]

[Bereet realized at this moment that she had done something wrong and looked at Star-Lord with a bit of embarrassment.]

[Star-Lord turned around and greeted Yondu while pretending to know nothing, "Hey! Yondu!"]
