The next morning, the valley shimmered like liquid light. Pale mist drifted between the glowing vines, catching sunlight and scattering it into soft rainbows. Resonance particles floated lazily in the air—visible, harmless, and almost playful, swirling around the group as if curious about their presence.
Ava stretched, letting out a satisfied groan. "Ugh… I don't care how magical this place looks, sleeping on uneven rock is still sleeping on uneven rock."
Brian grinned as he adjusted his gear. "You volunteered for first watch, remember?"
"Yeah," Zephyr said, smirking. "Because she didn't trust me with it."
"Can you blame her?" Kael muttered without looking up, already cleaning his greatsword with a methodical rhythm. "Last time you were on watch, you fell asleep and set your own tent on fire."
"(¬_¬) That was one time," Zephyr shot back. "And it was a small fire."
"Still fire," Alyssa said dryly, not looking away from her datapad.
