Apophis let out a heavy sigh, but she still helped.
Her whole body glowed as she poured the last of her energy into the attack.
The knight descended into the center.
BOOM.
A wave of annihilation erupted.
The serpents were dragged upward, shrieking and flailing.
The gravitational field tore their bodies apart.
Dark water sliced them into ribbons.
Lightning ripped their cores from within.
The earth cracked.
The sky dimmed.
Ben staggered and panted.
His arms trembled and smoke rose from his shoulders.
Apophis dropped to one knee, her wings folding in.
A faint, tired smile flickered on her lips.
The knight sheathed his sword with a sharp click.
All three of them looked up at the Devourer of Light.
"The system has adapted…" Ben muttered.
A deep frown darkened his face.
Even without Apophis's earlier warning, he could tell.
Those serpents had only been a distraction, fodder to buy time while the system worked to take over her true body completely.
