Ignoring Shay completely, Spencer strode directly toward Aurora. Without saying a word, he took out a pair of specially designed earplugs and gently placed them into Aurora's ears.
Only after making sure they were secure did he crouch beside her. His usually cold eyes were now filled with unmistakable worry.
Softly, he asked, "Aurora..."
His voice was unusually gentle. "...are you alright?"
Aurora simply blinked. She stared blankly ahead without responding.
Her eyes looked empty, almost as though her soul had momentarily left her body.
Seeing that, Spencer's heart immediately tightened. He slowly turned toward Shay.
