The drive to the estate where Jamal's house was located was quiet. Jamal had placed a call to his family to let them know they wouldn't be joining them for the barbecue as planned because Abigail wasn't feeling well and he'd be taking them to his house instead.
Inside the car, Josh was still asleep, his small head tilted to one side, his lips parted as he dreamed. Lucy the panda had slipped from his hand onto the seat beside him.
Abigail turned in her seat to watch him, her heart softening. "He's out," she said quietly.
Jamal smiled faintly. "Yeah. He had an early morning," he said, eyes on the road. "And a long day saying goodbye to the Bees."
Abigail nodded. Her fingers played absently with the strap of her handbag. She was emotionally drained. Both the memories that had come back to her last night and Genevieve's video all weighed on her chest.
