The soft sound of silent footsteps behind Nova snapped her into action, reaching for her weapon. Only to pause. A woven blanket had been placed over her shoulders. Blinking up, she watched as a woman walked away, returning to her spot, leaning against her hut and observing Nova from afar.
Despite the fire in front of Nova, it had yet to completely dry her clothes and hair. That and this utter bombshell that has just dropped, chilled her body. Unaware of what she'd been doing, Nova had been clutching at her arms, grounding herself to the news the Chief just announced.
A few tears trickled free from her eyes with relief and shock. She wiped them away with the back of her hand, whispering shakily. "He survived? They survived."
