All this time, Lance had been trying to keep the identity of the White Lantern Messenger hidden. He had specifically reminded her: as long as she wasn't in the form of the White Lantern Messenger, she should hide the powers of the White Lantern Ring as much as possible. The world wasn't ready to see that power openly.
Unlike Nancy, Christine often used that ring. As a doctor, Christine could conceal that power within the patient's body during medical procedures, making it an almost invisible healing tool. People just thought Christine was a genius doctor.
But Zack was a different story. He wasn't an ordinary patient. Zack was sensitive—too sensitive. Zack could sense the presence of that power instantly. So Nancy chose not to use it... until now, when Lance himself allowed it.
Without hesitation, Nancy raised her hand, and a soft white light flowed from the White Lantern Ring. The light curved gently in the air before enveloping Zack's face.
In seconds, the wounds on Zack's cheeks and temples began to close, his skin knitting back together, leaving faint marks that quickly disappeared.
Zack touched his cheek in amazement, his eyes wide. "What is this...?"
Nancy smiled slightly, a bit proud yet calm. "I told you, Mr. Lance White is a very powerful sorcerer. This ring is one of his magical gifts—capable of healing both external and internal wounds."
Zack exclaimed joyfully while clapping his hands. "Incredible! With something like this, and Redrick's help, we can definitely save my sister!"
Lance looked around, his expression slightly wary. "By the way, where is Redrick?"
Nancy quickly replied, as if just remembering, "Redrick said he might know the commander of this base. He said he could help us get information from the inside."
Lance touched his chin, his expression thoughtful. "I see... do you need my help?"
Nancy shook her head gently, but her gaze was resolute. "With the power you've given me, and with Zack by my side, plus Redrick as an insider... that's enough. We will save my sister."
Nancy paused for a moment, took a breath, and then looked deeper into Lance's eyes. "According to Redrick's information, two of our sisters have been kidnapped. They were captured by people from the Manticore Base and then transferred to the AIM base. Zack and I will start by rescuing Brin. After that, we will infiltrate the AIM base to save our other sister."
Lance squinted. His face hardened, and the voice that came from his lips sounded heavy. "AIM is not an enemy to be underestimated. They won't let anyone go easily. Even for you, Nancy... it will be difficult."
But Nancy replied firmly, without a hint of doubt. "We want to try."
Zack added in a serious and deep tone, "Protecting our sisters is our responsibility. We can't just sit back. If they are in hell, we will pull them out with our own hands."
A moment of silence enveloped them. Then Lance let out a quiet sigh, his eyes softened, but still held a mature vigilance. "Then... I will give you more assistance. At least so you have a better chance of coming back alive."
...
...
...
Lance rummaged through his dimensional pocket, pulling out a half-cracked staff—Berserker Staff—and a pulsating golden orb of light—Gilgamesh, Shock Steel.
"Nancy, you use this, Gilgamesh, Shock Steel... Uh, wait." Lance raised his hand, channeling a bit of energy into the air, creating a thin transparent screen displaying an image of Kamen Rider Dark Kiva. He pointed at the image, then at Nancy. "Imagine yourself like this."
Nancy furrowed her brow. "Huh?"
Lance calmly repeated, "Hold this orb, look at this image... and imagine yourself like that."
Gilgamesh, Shock Steel had no fixed form. It was a living metal entity in the shape of a golden orb of light, which would shape itself according to the owner's will.
As an envoy of the White Lantern, Nancy couldn't recklessly use her powers, especially not attack a military base openly. Therefore, the best way was—change her appearance.
Though confused, Nancy accepted the orb in her palm and closed her eyes, following Lance's instructions.
The next moment, the orb of light flowed slowly like warm, living water, enveloping Nancy's body from head to toe. The air around her vibrated lightly, marking the transformation taking place.
A few breaths later, the light faded—and Nancy stood there, wearing the iconic armor of Kamen Rider Dark Kiva. Complete with glossy black, blood-red accents on her chest, and a horned helmet that radiated an aura of silence and threat.
Of course, this was just an appearance. Although her form changed, her essence remained—Shock Steel. It couldn't replicate the powers of the original Kamen Rider.
Nancy slowly opened her eyes. She looked at her hands, then spread her arms in amazement. "I... feel like I'm in a movie."
Lance smiled casually. "Gilgamesh, Shock Steel may not be as powerful as the White Lantern Ring, but it's tough enough for this mission. When you wear it, you can use the name Kamen Rider Dark Kiva."
Besides, who would argue about copyright?
Nancy smiled slightly, then clenched her fist and swung it into the air. The air rang, as if sliced by a fine metal weapon.
Where Nancy really liked this thing. A lot.
Meanwhile, Lance handed half of the Berserker Staff to Zack.
"This is for you for now," said Lance.
"Thank you," Zack replied, a bit hesitant but polite. Zack knew that anything from Lance was definitely not cheap.
However, just as Zack was about to touch it, Lance pulled the staff back slightly.
"Listen. This is not a toy. The Berserker Staff is an ancient artifact from Norse mythology. It can give you incredible power, even beyond your current body. But there is a price to pay." Lance's eyes stared deeply. "This staff awakens the deepest anger in your heart. That emotion can make you lose control. So, don't hold it unless absolutely necessary. And don't lose this item."
In truth, Lance had already implanted a tracking spell within the staff. But Zack didn't need to know that. The warning was still important.
