Evelyn opened her mouth to tell the man that he would have to find someplace else while getting ready to close the door.
But before she could even utter a word, the man pushed past her and entered the house.
"You... what?" Evelyn said, stunned.
But she quickly closed the door. The wind was pushing leaves into the cottage.
"Hot." The man muttered, his hand pulling uncomfortably at his collar.
Evelyn turned around to look at him, wondering what he had said.
"Water." She heard the man say. His voice was deep.
"Huh? Oh... yes. I'll be right back." She said, heading to the kitchen.
A few seconds later, she returned with a bowl of water.
She handed the man the water and watched him gulp it down. He must be very thirsty, she thought.
"Um, do you want more water?" She asked, but the man didn't reply.
It was possible that he hadn't heard her over the storm.
