Chapter 27 - Old friends in unexpected places

The air was tense as Lason and Cassandra looked up at the man and woman with anger and anxiety in their eyes. As their powers flared up, but in their current they could do anything too drastic.

"I don't like repeating myself... so I'll ask again. Will you surrender willingly or must we take you inside body bags?" The man said as he pulled out a black book with silver engravings.

'Lason, any ideas?' Cassandra asked through telepathically, as she held onto Lazarus body.

'Not really, as i think me and you didn't have much of a fight compared to Lazarus.' He retorted back.

"I, see you chose the hard option. The man said as he pulled out a book and the woman put on black gloves with golden sigil on the back of the hands.

As Lason prepared to defend his sister and friend, but in the next moment they all felt a immense pressure placed on all their shoulders ontop of the roof.

This pressure reminded the twins of their father, but this pressure gave the feeling of stillness or rather a stop in motion.

They looked up and saw something odd.

As a man in a tailored black suit stood upside-down in the air looking at them all.

He looked to be around his late 30's to early 40's. With pale white skin. Silver colored hair, which was neatly combed to the side and piercing blue eyes that were surrounded by black sclera indicating he was a Strigoi vampire. And a pocket watch on his chest pocket.

"No! This can't be this wasn't said in the report. That you off all people would be her-.'

Before the priest could finish his sentence. The vampire appeared next to him at a speed even Cassandra couldn't process

The female priestess tried to offer retribution for her comrades as she tried to deliver a punched covered in holy light to which the man avoided easily as he struck with her in the throat, grabbed her by the face and tosed her to her comrades.

After which he spoke. His voice was a smooth and regal voice that was laced in formality. "I beg your forgiveness for the intrusion, but I can't let you kill any of them."

"How dare you get in the way of God's work!" The lady exclaimed in fury while grabbing her throat.

The man looked unaffected as he continued in his calm toned. "I'll let you go and we can pretend none of this happened, what says you?"

"You're either crazy or just stupid to believe-." As she was about to finish her retort the man spoke.

"We accept."

"Father Mikhail?! You cannot be serious!?" She roared with frustration at the man's willingness to accept the vampires offer.

"Quiet! Alexia! Do you know who stands before us?" He asked with a bit of fear laced in his voice that wasn't noticeable to the girl but the man heard it well. This is Sebastian Clockwork, one of the oldest vampires, turned by Dracula himself!" He exclaimed.

"Oh, young Mikhail i heard you became a high priest. Congratulations to bad you family isn't here to see it." The vampire recognizes the man from a past incident.

"Don't you dare speak their names." He said through gritted teeth. Remember a past he'd rather leave behind.

"If that's what you wish." He said as he walked over the Lazarus and thr twins and knelt down.

"My lady, sir allow this humble servant to guide you back to your home?" He said as placed his hand in his chest in a formal gesture.

Cass and Lason were still shocked but they knew better than to wait. ""Yes,sir! And thank you!"

He looked at Lazarus, as his blue eyes scanned his body and noticed the chest wound.

"Hmmm, we should get him some help but before that." He cut his wrist and let a stream of his blood into Lazarus's mouth. Lazarus wounds began to heal rapidly and he stopped shaking.

They look at him in awe and confusion. To which Sebastian noticed. "Don't worry, your friend will be okay, his body will be healed up in a few hours."

"Let me carry him back to your home, and as for you two I suggest leaving. Before my patience wears thin." He took Lazarus from Cassandra and gently carried him with the care of a parent with their child or family.

Father Mikhail opened his book and golden pages began to flaow out and cover him and Alexia and as they finished they were gone.

"Wait what should we do with them?" Lason pointed at Ragnar, Gideon and Astra.

"I'll take me and those 2 away, and we can pretend this never happened and we will keep the secret." Astra offered as she summoned a paper out of nowhere.

Sebastian took the paper and read it. "Huh, a witch's contract, okay that seals your lips but what about theirs?" He pointed at Ragnar and Gideon. But than a small voice spoke.

"Let.. them..be. Ragnar and I made a..deal and, I know he'll keep his word. They all look at Lazarus who just woke up to everyone's surprise.

Sebastian looked at him with some surprise but that was pushed down so show concern. "You shouldn't speak young one. The weapon used to pierce you was specifically made to deal with vampires."

"I'm..fine." He said between breaths. "Ragnar maybe a Von Helsing but he is a man of his word." He continued to add.

"But.. i have one request... of you Astra. Please treat him. I made sure to heal most of the damage but I need you to make sure he survives." He finished as the guilt in his voice could be heard.

Astra looked at Ragnar's who laid unconscious with the last pf the white flames getting snuffed out. "I'll do the best I can."

Lazarus smile at her words. "Thank you." As he finish he collapsed.

"We should take him back to your mansion." Sebastian said as he jumped from the buildings and sprouted his bat wings and moved at speeds barely perceivable to the naked eye.

Cassandra and Lason followed at their top speeds.

Leaving the 3 humans on the roof.
