The strongest moves in the Normal-type category, aside from the dangerous moves Self-Destruct and Explosion, are two incredibly powerful attacks.
The first is Hyper Beam, a special attack move. The second is Giga Impact, a physical attack move.
Both of these moves have a base power of 150 and cause the user to become unable to move on the following turn due to exhaustion.
What makes these moves special is that almost all Pokemon in their final evolutionary forms can learn them through Technical Machines.
So...
After the incident in Stone Town was completely resolved, Eddie said his goodbyes to Sparky and the others before departing from the small mining community.
Eddie then walked into a nearby forest and released all of his Pokemon from their Poke Balls.
There was only one reason for this - he wanted them to learn the strongest Normal-type moves available.
"Ding! Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur, Greninja, Sceptile, Lucario, Garchomp, Pupitar, Snorlax, Gengar, Eevee, and Gardevoir have successfully learned Giga Impact!"
Don't question why Eevee could learn Giga Impact - Eddie could always evolve it later and teach the move then.
"Excellent! Now that both Hyper Beam and Giga Impact are in our arsenal, we can catch our opponents off guard at crucial moments," Eddie said with satisfaction.
"And Snorlax, you can now use the ultimate Z-Move, Pulverizing Pancake."
The name of Snorlax's exclusive Z-Move might sound amusing, but its base power in the games matches Pikachu's Catastropika, making it one of the most powerful Z-Moves available.
This devastating attack never misses its target, and enemies cannot even use Protect to defend against it.
Of course, this referred to the game mechanics, which differed somewhat from reality.
But this indirectly proved that this big fellow's exclusive Z-Move was not only formidable but ranked among the strongest attacks possible.
"It's unfortunate that we're near cities, so I can't test the full power of this move," Eddie mused.
Eddie was eager to see the Z-Move in action, but as he mentioned, they were currently near cities.
If he used such a powerful Z-Move here, it would inevitably cause damage to the nearby cities and towns.
"Don't worry, there will be plenty of opportunities and appropriate places to test these moves later," Eddie reassured himself.
Eddie wasn't frustrated by the delay. After all, he was heading to Fuchsia City next, and there would be suitable training grounds along the way.
After collecting all his Pokemon except for Eevee and Gardevoir, Eddie continued his journey southward.
Meanwhile, Jessie, James, and Meowth were trudging back toward Golden City on foot, looking quite miserable. Their hot air balloon had been used as bait earlier, leaving them without any means of transportation.
Fortunately, they had eaten and drunk their fill before encountering Eddie, so they still had enough energy to make the long walk back. However, the trio's progress was painfully slow and awkward.
As they made their way along the road, they encountered their most despised rivals.
"Oh my, isn't this the trio that escaped from Celadon City?" came a mocking voice.
"Looking at your pathetic appearance, it seems your selfish schemes have failed once again, haven't they?"
The voices belonged to two Team Rocket members that Jessie, James, and Meowth absolutely detested, immediately drawing their attention.
Looking up, they saw a boy and girl wearing Team Rocket's black uniforms standing before the disheveled trio.
The pair gazed down at Jessie, James, and Meowth with obvious disdain, their eyes filled with malicious glee at seeing their rivals in such a sorry state.
"It's you two..." Jessie said wearily.
"We didn't expect to run into you here..." James added with equal exhaustion.
Jessie and James wanted to respond to the mockery, but they were truly beaten down by their recent defeat.
They didn't even have the energy to properly argue with their old rivals within Team Rocket.
"That's right! It's us!" the girl declared proudly.
"We're nothing like you worthless failures!" the boy added smugly.
"Cassidy!" the girl announced with a flourish.
"Butch!" the boy proclaimed, striking a dramatic pose.
However, the duo failed to notice that Jessie, James, and Meowth's attitudes had shifted, and they continued their taunting while dramatically announcing their names.
"Oh, is that so?" Jessie replied flatly.
"So what exactly do you want?" James asked with equal disinterest.
"Are you just bored or something?" Meowth added with a shrug.
Jessie, James, and Meowth maintained their calm expressions, appearing to respond but actually completely ignoring their rivals' provocations.
Meowth looked at the two antagonizers with a puzzled expression, genuinely believing they were simply looking for entertainment.
"Huh? Jessie, you're being surprisingly calm. No wait, it seems like you've completely lost your fighting spirit," Cassidy observed with disappointment.
"How truly disappointing, James. It appears you really are just as pathetic as we thought," Butch added with a shake of his head.
Cassidy and Butch felt genuinely let down. They had come looking for a good argument, but that required their opponents to actually engage with them. With Jessie, James, and Meowth acting so indifferent, the confrontation had lost all its appeal.
"Lost our fighting spirit? No, quite the opposite..." Jessie began with a sly smile.
"We're actually full of fighting spirit right now. We're just too sophisticated to waste our time arguing with such low-class individuals," James continued smoothly.
"That's exactly right!" Meowth finished with the same mocking tone that Cassidy and Butch had used.
The trio responded to their rivals with identical expressions of superiority and disdain.
"What?! How dare you call us low-class!" Cassidy shrieked in outrage.
"It seems we need to demonstrate just how awesome we really are!" Butch declared angrily.
Furious at being dismissed so casually, Cassidy and Butch grabbed their Poke Balls, ready to teach the trio a harsh lesson through battle.
They were high-level trainers on the verge of breaking through to Peak Trainer status. Their strength was indeed significantly greater than that of the infamous trio.
Given such an obvious difference in power levels, combined with the bad blood that had existed between them since they first joined Team Rocket, a battle seemed inevitable.
But these were old grudges now. None of them really cared about the original reasons for their rivalry anymore. They were simply "eternal enemies" at this point.
"So what if you manage to defeat us?" Jessie asked with an eerily calm smile.
"You'll end up in the same situation as us soon enough. No, actually, you'll probably be much worse off than we are," James added with knowing confidence.
"Enjoy your moment of happiness while it lasts, meow..." Meowth concluded with an almost pitying expression.
Under normal circumstances, the trio would have immediately prepared to flee from such a confrontation. However, they had just realized something important about Cassidy and Butch's current direction.
The rival duo appeared to be heading south, the same direction that Eddie had taken.
Having personally experienced the consequences of crossing paths with Eddie multiple times, they knew exactly what fate awaited anyone who interfered with his journey.
"You... what exactly do you mean by that?" Cassidy demanded, suddenly feeling uneasy.
"Explain yourselves clearly, or else..." Butch threatened, though his voice carried less confidence than before.
Cassidy and Butch were naturally disturbed by the trio's strange behavior and sensed that something was definitely wrong, prompting them to demand an explanation.
"Let's make a little wager," Jessie proposed with growing amusement. "As long as you continue heading south, regardless of whatever scheme you're planning..."
"If you somehow manage to succeed and complete your mission, when you return to Team Rocket headquarters, we'll address you as 'Big Brother' and 'Big Sister,'" James continued the proposal.
"But on the other hand, if your plan fails miserably, you'll naturally have to call us 'Big Brother' and 'Big Sister' from now on, meow!" Meowth finished with obvious glee.
The trio exchanged knowing looks and made their bet without revealing the true reason behind their confidence to Cassidy and Butch.
From their experience, even Team Rocket's three executives hadn't achieved any positive results when dealing with Eddie, let alone lower-ranking operatives.
Two trainers who hadn't even reached Peak level status were nothing more than insignificant obstacles in Eddie's path.
The trio was already looking forward to witnessing the spectacular scene that would unfold when Cassidy and Butch inevitably encountered Eddie.
They were certain that the upcoming confrontation would be absolutely magnificent to behold.
