"Pika pika pika!" the attacking Pikachu continued making its cute battle cry as it charged forward.
To Eddie, it might have sounded adorable, but the cute growl that accompanied Volt Tackle was genuinely intimidating. This wasn't an attack that just anyone could withstand.
"A Pikachu at Peak level using an ultimate Electric-type move... I'd better play this safe," Eddie thought quickly as various strategies flashed through his mind.
The Pikachu was attacking at tremendous speed, giving Eddie only moments to react.
"Come out, Sceptile!" Eddie called out, quickly releasing his strongest Grass-type Pokemon.
The reason he didn't choose Garchomp, despite its Dragon and Ground typing, was purely strategic. He wanted to err on the side of caution.
This Pikachu with an ultimate move was clearly exceptional. It would be much safer to have the option of Mega Evolution with Sceptile at a critical moment rather than relying on Garchomp.
After all, Ash's Pikachu had famously defeated Onix with electric attacks despite the type disadvantage.
The Pikachu in front of Eddie seemed to be performing at a similar level to that legendary Pokemon.
While Eddie couldn't be sure how powerful Ash's Pikachu had become by now, it obviously didn't possess an ultimate Electric-type move during their early encounters.
But this Pikachu clearly did, so Eddie had to remain on high alert.
"Pikachu!!" the Mouse Pokemon cried out as it continued its assault.
Eddie had released Sceptile with lightning-fast reflexes, and both Pokemon moved with incredible speed.
The attacking Pikachu was clearly surprised by Eddie's reaction time. Its eyes flashed with newfound respect as it assessed the Gym-level Sceptile now standing before it, seemingly reconsidering its approach.
But regardless of any second thoughts, the attack couldn't be stopped now. Pikachu, surrounded by crackling golden electricity, crashed toward Sceptile.
"Pikachu!!" the Electric-type roared.
"Scep-tile!!" Sceptile responded with equal determination.
The two Pokemon finally collided in a spectacular clash, both showing tremendous fighting spirit.
When Electric-type moves hit Grass-type Pokemon, the damage is normally reduced by half due to type resistance.
However, this Pikachu was using the ultimate Electric-type technique Volt Tackle, combined with its peak Peak-level strength, creating devastating power despite the type disadvantage.
"Pikachu!!"
"Sceptile!!"
Due to the force of their collision, both Pokemon were blown backward several meters by the tremendous impact.
If Eddie hadn't immediately jumped out of the way, he would have been struck by Sceptile's flying body.
Volt Tackle had the side effect of causing recoil damage to the user, but since the target was Sceptile, although the situation appeared quite fierce, the actual damage was manageable.
Pikachu's attack had indeed been powerful, but fortunately Sceptile's natural strength and type advantage reduced the assault to its minimum effectiveness. While both Pokemon were injured, neither was seriously hurt.
"Pika pika chu!!" (Human! Get out of our home!) the lead Pikachu immediately rolled over and stood up, shouting angrily at Eddie.
By this time, almost all the Pikachu and Pichu in the area had noticed the commotion.
Such a loud disturbance would have been impossible to miss unless someone was completely blind.
Soon, many battle-capable Pikachu gathered around their strongest member, all shouting at Eddie in unison.
Of course, their message was the same as their leader's - they all demanded that Eddie leave their territory immediately.
Eddie surveyed the group of aggressive Pikachu, all of whom seemed ready to unleash Thunderbolt attacks at any moment, and felt his situation growing precarious.
He wasn't afraid of these Pokemon individually, but facing a coordinated assault from so many Advanced and Peak -level Pikachu would be genuinely dangerous.
Furthermore, Pikachu typically learned Thunder at level 44, so there were probably several here capable of using that devastating move.
"Uh, I think there might be some misunderstanding here. I..." Eddie began diplomatically.
However, before Eddie could finish explaining himself, the lead Pikachu fired a Thunder Shock directly at him.
The attack missed Eddie intentionally, but it was clearly meant as a warning shot.
"Pika pika chu!!" (Get out now, or we'll teach you a proper lesson!) the Pikachu threatened.
Eddie could practically see cartoon anger marks appearing above his head as he processed this hostile reception.
While the situation might have seemed somewhat comical, Eddie was genuinely annoyed at this point.
"Right, I tried to speak with you politely, but you're not interested in listening, are you?" Eddie said, his patience finally wearing thin.
Eddie wasn't known for having a gentle temperament. While he treated his own Pokemon with great care and genuinely wanted to capture this obviously exceptional Pikachu, that didn't mean he would simply accept being disrespected.
Especially when the other party clearly viewed Eddie as an enemy and had started fighting without any attempt at communication.
Eddie released all of his Pokemon at once, then addressed the group of Pikachu in a deceptively "friendly" voice.
"I suggest you listen to me very carefully," he said with calm authority.
His meaning was crystal clear - do you want to talk this out, or would you prefer to get beaten first?
Standing beside him were multiple Gym-level Pokemon and several at peak Peak level, giving Eddie both the strength and confidence to make such a statement.
Even with a group of Peak-level Pikachu facing him, including one obviously exceptional peak Peak Pikachu leading them, Eddie held the advantage.
"Pika..." the lead Pikachu said uncertainly.
The leading Pikachu was clearly shocked by Eddie's impressive lineup, and the Pikachu behind it began showing signs of panic as well.
If Eddie had been just an Peak-level Trainer, they would have given him intensive electric therapy without hesitation.
But Eddie was clearly a Gym Leader-level Trainer, and unfortunately for them, they might not be able to win such a confrontation.
There was a significant gap between Gym Leader and Peak levels, though there were rare individuals like Eddie who could ignore this gap and fight above their apparent rank.
While such trainers did exist, they were exceptionally uncommon.
This lead Pikachu actually possessed the confidence to defeat Gym Leader-level Pokemon with its Peak-level strength in a one-on-one battle.
However, that confidence applied only to individual combat. Eddie had seven Gym Leader-level Pokemon and two Peak-level Pokemon at his disposal.
As for Blastoise, Venusaur, and Gardevoir - the three high-level team members - the Pikachu leader had completely overlooked their presence.
In such a large-scale battle, while it might be able to protect itself, the other members of its species would likely be unable to defend themselves adequately.
So it found itself hesitating - should it initiate combat, or should it listen to Eddie and attempt conversation first?
It had to be acknowledged that the essence of the Pokemon world still followed the law of the jungle.
If Eddie hadn't possessed such overwhelming strength, the Pikachu wouldn't have thought twice about simply giving him electric shock therapy.
But since Eddie demonstrated such formidable power, it couldn't simply attack him without considering whether Eddie might return the favor with his own form of "shock treatment."
"Garde, Gardevoir!" (Please, don't do this!) Gardevoir called out gently.
Just as both sides maintained their aggressive stances and seemed ready to battle at any moment, Gardevoir walked directly into the middle of the potential battlefield without waiting for Eddie's command.
The Pikachu saw Gardevoir approaching the center of the confrontation and instinctively prepared to shock the Psychic-type Pokemon.
But suddenly, it felt a deep, bone-chilling sensation. Every instinct screamed that if it dared to attack Gardevoir, the consequences would be absolutely catastrophic.
So it held back its attack. As the leader refrained from striking, the other Pikachu followed suit and also held their positions.
"Gardevoir, come back! This is extremely dangerous," Eddie said with a frown.
Gardevoir was only level 35 at the moment. In front of a group of Peak-level Pikachu, it was in serious peril.
"Garde, Gardevoir!" (Master, please leave this to me. We shouldn't be fighting.) Gardevoir communicated to its trainer.
Gardevoir didn't want the two sides to engage in unnecessary combat.
It was obvious to the Psychic-type that its trainer was fundamentally a good person, and these Pikachu were genuinely happy Pokemon. Since neither side had done anything truly wrong, fighting would be the real mistake.
"Listen carefully," Eddie addressed the lead Pikachu with complete composure, his Mega Glove clearly visible in his hand. "Gardevoir wants to speak with you now. You can talk, but if you dare to harm it in any way..."
"Believe me, you'll regret it so much you'll want to throw yourself into the ocean," he concluded with quiet menace.
