Chapter 369 - 369. The Indigo Plateau

Indigo Plateau is extremely famous throughout the entire Kanto region and Johto region. The headquarters of the League that governs both regions is located on Indigo Plateau.

Originally, Indigo Plateau was sparsely populated, but since the League established its headquarters here, a city has developed in an area suitable for human habitation.

The city's permanent population isn't particularly large, with only a few hundred thousand residents on normal days. However, when the Indigo Conference is held, the number of people gathered here instantly increases several times over.

The Pokémon League Conference is the grandest celebration and festival in all human societies and regions where humans live. It's held every three years and has been conducted fifteen times so far. Compared with conferences in regions such as Hoenn and Sinnoh, the Indigo Conference is larger in scale and attracts more attention, because only the Indigo Conference is held simultaneously across the two major regions of Kanto and Johto.

Just like the Olympic Games, the Indigo Conference attracts attention from people all over the world.

Indigo Plateau is essentially a tourist city. Located on a plateau with unique scenery, countless people visit even when the conference isn't being held. The residents living here sell local products and operate restaurants and hotels.

The most eye-catching building in Indigo Plateau isn't the Kanto League headquarters, but rather the massive open-air stadium located in the city's center, covering more than fifty hectares. This stadium serves as the venue for the finals and semifinals of the Indigo Conference. It can accommodate up to two hundred and fifty thousand spectators on site, making it the largest building in the Kanto region.

Most of the buildings in the city are hotels and restaurants, and even these hotels are fully booked a year in advance.

A week before the Indigo Conference, an endless stream of planes flew in from various regions around the world, soaring through the clouds and landing at Indigo Plateau Airport, gradually bringing the city to life and transforming it into a sea of excitement and joy.

A massive mountain range exists in the western part of the Kanto region, the eastern part of the Johto region, and west of Victory Road and Indigo Plateau.

This place, called Mt. Silver, is an extremely dangerous wilderness area.

In the games, if you want to reach Mt. Silver, you must obtain all sixteen badges from both Kanto and Johto, then visit Professor Oak to receive permission before you can enter.

But in the real world, there are naturally no such regulations, nor is there any need for them.

This is because the place is notorious far and wide. Even people who aren't from the Kanto or Johto regions know how terrifying the wild Pokémon in this mountain are.

Eddie had naturally visited this place before his rebirth, and he'd nearly been beaten to death by the weakest Pokémon in the outer areas.

This was because the Pokémon here were at minimum Gym Leader level, with even some Elite-level Pokémon present. At that time, Eddie had just reached Gym Leader level himself, so naturally he was nearly defeated.

The wild Pokémon in Mt. Silver are so terrifying that even regular Gym Leaders don't dare to train here.

Only those who are Quasi-Elite level or even Elite-level trainers have the ability to properly train themselves in Mt. Silver.

Therefore, the League didn't need any special regulations. They simply placed a notice board at the foot of Mt. Silver with the following words written on it:

"Dear Trainer, if you are confident that you can survive being surrounded by a large group of Gym Leader-level Pokémon and Quasi-Elite-level Pokémon, then proceed."

This short sentence is enough to dissuade many trainers who overestimate their own abilities.

Of course, they can't stop trainers like Eddie who are determined to test themselves. The League has warned them anyway.

"However, these were the conditions in the original version, and the changes in this version aren't quite the same. It just raises the strength of all the Pokémon here to a higher level."

Eddie couldn't help but sigh as he soaked in Mt. Silver's unique hot springs.

"Victory Road is full of Gym Leader and Quasi-Elite level Pokémon. In the past, I would have struggled against them. But now that I'm an Elite-level trainer, there's no need to train there."

"However, even though I imagined how terrifying this place would be, when I actually encountered a large group of Elite-level Pokémon surrounding me, I was genuinely frightened."

Yes, in the original Mt. Silver, the weakest Pokémon were at Gym Leader level, and the strongest were at Elite level. But in Eddie's current situation, everything had been upgraded by one tier, with the weakest becoming Quasi-Elite level, and the strongest being Champion-level Pokémon.

Eddie had arrived at Mt. Silver with full confidence, thinking that with his Elite-level strength, he should be invincible here. However, as soon as Eddie dismounted from his Charizard's back, he was surrounded by a group of Ursaring.

This group of Ursaring were all Elite level, and there was clearly one Ursaring who served as the leader, possessing peak Elite-level strength.

Eddie felt terrible on the spot. He recalled his Charizard, released his Gardevoir, used Psychic together with Gardevoir, and instantly teleported away.

Although Eddie could use the Power of Viridian to deal with this group of Ursaring, he could even release Mewtwo to perform a complete sweep.

But Eddie hadn't come here to overwhelm his opponents. He'd come to focus on training, so he had no intention of using such advantages from the start.

However, Eddie was someone with a stubborn streak. After being surrounded by the Ursaring and forced to flee, he decided to take revenge on them.

He spent two or three weeks specifically seeking out Ursaring who were alone or who he could isolate to fight one-on-one. In such individual battles, even if Eddie was weaker than his opponent, he could still achieve victory through various tactics and strategies.

Using this method, Eddie defeated almost all of the Ursaring who had surrounded him and gained significant experience from the battles.

Then, facing the peak Elite-level leader Ursaring, Eddie had to use all six of his main Pokémon to defeat it.

As mentioned before, the power gap between each level becomes larger as you progress further, and a massive amount of experience is required for each upgrade.

Eddie defeated an entire group of Ursaring without even gaining a single level, and after defeating the level seventy-nine Ursaring leader, his team had only just reached level seventy-one from level seventy.

But Mt. Silver is Mt. Silver after all. Although there aren't many groups like the Ursaring, there are still quite a few of them.

During the past two months, Eddie used various methods to defeat groups of Sneasel, groups of Donphan, groups of Quagsire, and groups of Golduck.

As for groups of Tyranitar, groups of Heracross, groups of Gyarados in the river, and other such terrifying creatures, Eddie didn't dare to approach them at all.

This wasn't only because these Pokémon were too strong and Eddie didn't have enough time to defeat these groups, but also because their leaders were Champion-level Pokémon, each with several peak Elite-level Pokémon serving under them.

Eddie watched from a distance as these incredibly powerful groups passed by, then left without looking back.

"However, even with just this much, the level gains are sufficient. The Indigo Conference is about to begin, and I should leave."

"Oh, by the way, why don't you give me a ride there? The Indigo Conference has something to do with you. If you take me there, I think it will be quite interesting."

Eddie said this to the Pokémon that was resting on a mountain. Upon hearing his words, the Pokémon nodded, spread its wings, and flew over to Eddie.

Eddie naturally didn't hesitate. He stepped out of the hot spring and quickly dressed himself.

He jumped onto the Pokémon's back and guided it to fly into the distance.

Destination: Indigo Plateau!
