Isabella did not hesitate.
The moment her brain remembered she was pregnant, bruised, and emotionally damaged by this stupid phoenix man, her body moved on pure instinct.
She swung.
Her palm slapped across Osiris' arm with a sharp, violent crack that echoed through the clearing. Birds fled from somewhere above them. Leaves trembled. Even the moss on the ground seemed to recoil.
Osiris jerked like she had struck him with lightning. "Ow. Isabella. Stop."
She did not stop.
She slapped him again. Harder. So hard his head snapped to the side and a cloud of crushed moss puffed into the air. "Are you insane. Do you have a death wish. What if I had a miscarriage. What if you killed my children. What is wrong with you. What is actually wrong with your brain."
Osiris shielded his face with both arms. "I protected you. I protected you the entire time. Isabella stop. My face is important."
