Chapter 196: Humanity Joins Forces with Godzilla
Facing the three-headed Ghidorah-Godzillas, the fat one remained fearless—until he was beaten into a frantic retreat.
There was no helping it. The gap in raw power was just too vast. And even now, Godzilla hadn't activated its Burning Mode.
Chang Wei pondered for a moment.
Damn, could it be that he's used up too much energy and can't trigger Burning Form anymore?
If he recalled correctly, the original storyline mentioned that Burning Godzilla couldn't activate again later unless the fat one consumed another nuke.
This Legendary Godzilla could enter Burning Form as long as it had enough energy—without the drawback of exploding or melting itself like in other versions.
The humans also noticed that Godzilla seemed to be getting beaten down, only occasionally counterattacking. But the Ghidorah-Godzillas didn't care. Their regeneration was faster and stronger; they had been fighting all this time without showing any signs of exhaustion.
And now, more Ghidorah-Godzillas were converging on this location.
"This is a rare opportunity! We can't just watch Godzilla go down!"
"Report! A new super-monster response has appeared in the Pacific! Over ten of them, heading straight for Godzilla!"
"Report! Super-monsters from Asia are on the move! Predicted path will pass through—"
"Report! Super-monsters from Africa are flying toward the West Coast!"
"Report—"
The humans stared at the screens filled with red dots. Their remaining forces were barely holding on. Mecha-God wasn't completed yet, and even if it were, no one believed it could defeat so many super-monsters.
Not even in a one-on-one fight.
Mecha-God was supposed to mimic the form of a god—because, for the first time, humanity had seen someone challenge the Titans, even if that entity was a god itself.
But they were gods too. They looked like gods. Gods had created them in their own image. They should be proud of that!
Even if many scientists insisted that there was no real need for two massive legs, they didn't understand—this was humanity's first step in rebellion.
Not just a physical rebellion. A spiritual one.
Chang Wei had restored their confidence and pride in humanity.
Chang Wei: Even though I've destroyed countless worlds, committed mass extinctions, and never cared for good or evil—only profit—no matter how many worlds I traverse, I will always stand with humanity.
"We have to help Godzilla!"
"We can't let it fall so easily—otherwise, we won't have time to deal with all these super-monsters!"
The humans gritted their teeth in frustration. After all, these super-monsters were the creations of some lunatics among them, yet now everyone had to bear the consequences.
Damn it, if you hadn't pulled this stunt, our Mecha-God would've beaten Godzilla, and humanity would've ruled the world!
Now, the future was uncertain, and they even had to help Godzilla. Infuriating!
"How do we help Godzilla?"
"How many nukes do we have left?"
Humanity had suffered devastating losses.
First, Ghidorah had awakened Titans worldwide. Then, Emma Russell, that madwoman, tried to play god and continued waking Titans. A wave of rampaging Titans swept the globe, and no one could stop them.
After a heavy toll, humanity had finally managed to drive the leaderless Titans out of major cities—only for a second wave of super-monsters to arrive.
And this time, it was even worse.
Against these super-monsters, humanity had no means of resistance.
Even worse, power plants and nuclear energy facilities had been attacked by these creatures, driven by instinct. Unlike Godzilla, they didn't ignore humans. This led to severe losses in nuclear weapons and energy reserves.
How many usable nukes remained? Even humanity wasn't sure.
But after a quick investigation, they discovered an underground base in America still had nuclear strike capability.
It was originally one of the many dummy missile silos for the Dead Hand system. But now, it was revealed to be a real silo—with a fake one built on top to disguise it.
"There's a five-megaton nuclear bomb stored there."
"What about launch authorization? Can the base still operate?"
"It's a nuclear strike-grade underground facility. Though the battles between the gods, Godzilla, and Ghidorah caused some seismic activity, the impact was minimal. It's still operational!"
"Report! Launch authorization has been received!"
The automated base handled everything through its internal system.
Before activation, nuclear weapons were actually quite safe—even if you put one over a fire, nothing would happen.
But once the chain reaction began, it was pure annihilation.
"Five megatons… I'm terrified this might create a monster instead…"
"Hybrid-monsters contain Godzilla's cells and genes. Could they also absorb nuclear radiation and energy?"
"…It's possible. But we have no choice."
Humanity was out of options.
On the screen, Godzilla's injuries were worsening. The relentless assault from the endless Ghidorah-Godzillas had left it covered in wounds, on the verge of collapse.
The Ghidorah-Godzillas recognized each other as kin, so there was no infighting. In this scenario, Godzilla was their common target.
"Fire the missile!"
"May God… No, may the Creator bless us!"
"Godzilla, don't let us down!"
The nuke was launched.
It streaked out from the silo, traversing an immense distance before arriving over the West Coast.
Fearing the super-monsters might destroy it mid-air, humanity had set it to detonate at high altitude.
The Ghidorah-Godzillas immediately noticed the nuclear warhead.
Sensing the radiation and nuclear fuel inside, their hunger took over.
They abandoned Godzilla and lunged toward the missile.
BZZZZZ——!
The nuclear warhead's internal mechanisms activated.
A chain reaction triggered.
In an instant, the energy of a miniature sun erupted.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The shockwaves were deafening. A massive sphere of light blossomed in the sky.
Godzilla greedily absorbed the nuclear radiation and energy.
The other Ghidorah-Godzillas did the same.
Shockingly, the nuke lasted less than twenty seconds before vanishing. The explosion's heat and shockwaves were completely absorbed by the monsters.
"Unbelievable… No matter how many times I see it, these Titans are truly terrifying."
"The nuclear blast's energy has been fully absorbed. No detectable radiation remains."
"Report! High-energy readings detected from Godzilla!!!"
After all, it was a five-megaton nuke.
Sure, it wasn't a hydrogen bomb—that was a shame.
And sure, the other Ghidorah-Godzillas had stolen a significant portion of the energy—that was also a shame.
But the amount was still enough.
Godzilla was recovering.
