In the sky, Kenpachi Chengdui stood in midair, overlooking the entire Human World below.
Amid the dense crowd of figures, he could not sense his target's presence at all. This was also the greatest difference between the Human World and Soul Society; here, Shinigami could hide within Gigai (faux bodies), concealing their Reiatsu. Trying to find someone was no different from searching for a needle in the ocean.
"A mere mortal… actually managed to make me…"
At this point, Kenpachi Chengdui's expression turned extremely ugly.
He refused to accept it, absolutely refused! In terms of strength, even in this Starlight Level 7 world, he was considered a top-tier figure. The opponent had only come from a Starlight Level 5 civilization, at most reaching Level 6, yet he had actually suffered a setback, overturned in the gutter, and counterattacked!
Anger, unwillingness, and humiliation filled his heart to the brim.
That was why, the moment he recovered, he personally led the Shinigami to the Human World to completely kill that guy and prove his own power.
"This time, I won't underestimate you again! I'll unleash my full strength and make sure you die without a burial place!"
Grinding the words out between his teeth, Kenpachi Chengdui's face twisted with ferocity, and his Reiatsu spread wildly in all directions without restraint.
"Spread out. Find them!"
After five or six breaths, he barked coldly.
At once, the Shinigami around him stiffened, then flashed away in an instant, scattering in all directions. Kenpachi Chengdui's eyes were vicious as he scanned the Human World. After a few glances, he suddenly grinned, almost like a madman.
"But thanks to you… I finally broke through that damned limit! Next time, you'll die even more miserably!"
As he finished speaking, a cracking sound echoed, his face became covered with a ferocious skeletal mask. Twisted lines spread across it, forming a bizarre and sinister pattern that struck fear into anyone who saw it.
Of course, Qin Yi had already stepped into Hueco Mundo by this time. This meant Kenpachi Chengdui's trip would be in vain.
A crescent moon hung like a hook in the pitch-black sky, while gusts of sand drifted through the air.
This was a barren land. As far as the eye could see, there was endless desert, desolate ground where even after nearly a thousand meters, not a single plant could be found. Towering stone cliffs occasionally appeared along the way.
The entire space was filled with a heavy, oppressive atmosphere and a chilling aura.
Everything felt lonely and cold.
Hueco Mundo at night was even more silent. At this moment, a figure was walking slowly through it, showing no sign of disgust toward the harsh environment.
Rustle… rustle… rustle…
Each step left faint marks in the sand, but after he passed, the blowing wind quickly buried them again.
Qin Yi had been here for three days already.
Contrary to his expectations, he hadn't encountered even a single Hollow, let alone a Great Hollow.
This place was far too empty, completely unsuitable for any form of life.
"Looks like testing the power of this Zanpakutō won't be easy…"
Qin Yi muttered softly, sounding somewhat helpless.
In truth, he hadn't fully understood the power of the King of Hell. During its evolution, he had fought the King of Hell that appeared in his mind, and won, gaining ownership of it.
But its true power… its abilities… were still unclear to him.
Manifesting consciousness, breaking through limits into an infinite state, ensuring an undying physical body, these were merely the King of Hell's additional abilities. This Zanpakutō was on the same level as the Hōgyoku, possessing immense and terrifying energy.
But how to use it, and what it would look like when used, he had no idea.
"So when exactly are any Hollows going to show up?" Qin Yi sighed, feeling rather speechless.
As for practicing swordsmanship in an empty field, he had no interest in swinging his Zanpakutō around like an idiot. It would be completely meaningless.
Speaking of which, the King of Hell in his hand had actually been born using Cangsheng as a medium, which also caused Qin Yi to lose the Spirit Sword he had forged in the Immortal Sword.
He continued walking forward. In this boundless desert, Qin Yi's mood remained calm.
Another night passed. By the time the second day's sunlight rose, blazing and dazzling, Qin Yi had already entered a forest of stone pillars.
Rows of towering rocks stood upright in the desert, reaching toward the sky like a forest made of stone, forming a striking and beautiful scene.
When he reached the very center of the stone forest, Qin Yi stopped. A grin spread across his face, and a glint flashed in his blood-red eyes.
"Finally… I get to see it?"
He raised his head, and the scene before him came into view.
Gigantic Hollows appeared before his eyes, each over a hundred meters tall, pitch-black in body, with white long-nosed masks covering their faces, their massive forms exuding an overwhelming presence.
At the same moment, these enormous Hollows also noticed the tiny Qin Yi within the stone forest. They grew visibly excited, letting out low, guttural roars.
Then,
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
With heavy, thunderous steps, they charged straight toward Qin Yi.
"Good. Time to test the blade!"
A sinister light flickered in Qin Yi's blood-red eyes as he drew the Zanpakutō from his waist.
In an instant, black and crimson energy coiled around his body, and the Zanpakutō began to hum and shriek.
There were plenty of Hollows ahead, more than enough for him to go all out.
"Come!"
Qin Yi stepped forward, faster and faster, until he broke into a sprint. The surging aura around him grew increasingly vast and overwhelming. His Zanpakutō dragged diagonally along the desert ground, carving a clear trail through the soft sand.
"Die!"
Three breaths later, he had already reached the foremost Hollow.
His Zanpakutō suddenly lifted. Black and crimson light intertwined, condensing into a trembling sphere of pitch-black energy at the tip of the blade.
"Nether Wave!"
With a powerful leap, Qin Yi shot up a full hundred meters into the air, arriving right in front of the first Hollow. The blade thrust forward.
In that instant,
The black sphere erupted, bursting outward as it slammed into the Hollow's face. Immediately, countless black-red strands shot out, piercing straight through its body. The creature stiffened, and then the attack continued surging forward, penetrating everything behind it.
"Puff! Puff! Puff!"
A series of dense, rapid sounds rang out. Fifteen advancing Hollows froze at once, all skewered by those black-red strands.
Then,
"Boom!"
Under Qin Yi's grinning gaze, they exploded into fine dust that filled the sky.
"Not bad."
He stomped midair, a burst of air spiraling beneath his feet. Black-red light flared from his Zanpakutō, and his speed surged again.
In less than a thousandth of a breath, he appeared before another Hollow.
"Cut!"
Raising his Zanpakutō high, he brought it down in a single stroke from the top of the Hollow's head.
"Shhhhk!"
Like slicing through paper, the two-hundred-meter-tall Hollow was split cleanly in half from head to toe, before dispersing with a bang right before Qin Yi.
"And next, Great Nether King… Initial Blade Release!"
Landing on the desert, Qin Yi swung his Zanpakutō, pointing its tip straight ahead.
"Then let's try this first."
His eyes glowed crimson, and a strange smile spread across his face, part exhilaration, part anticipation, part certainty.
"Sit upon the frozen heavens, Hyōrinmaru!"
"Buzz…!"
A terrifying wave of icy energy erupted from behind him, surging forward like a tidal storm, covering the sky and sweeping across everything in its path.
