Chapter 417 - Chapter 19: Pure Land

"It's been a long time~ Monkey!"

A deep voice rang out as Senju Hashirama's clouded eyes looked at Hiruzen Sarutobi across from him.

On the other side, Senju Tobirama also spoke expressionlessly.

"Oh~ It's you. You've gotten old too, Sarutobi."

Hearing this, Hiruzen, sweating profusely and deadly serious, said gravely:

"I never thought I'd meet you two brothers again under these circumstances. I feel great regret. Please prepare yourselves, First Hokage-sama, Second Hokage-sama!"

Meanwhile, Tobirama paused for a moment, turned to look at Orochimaru behind him, and said leisurely:

"Summoning: Impure World Reincarnation again? Isn't it Rinjin this time?"

Outside the arena, Rinjin removed his mask, cheerfully bouncing up and waving as he shouted:

"Second Grandpa, it's not me this time! I've been really well-behaved lately!"

The atmosphere suddenly shifted without warning...

Tobirama glanced at the carefree Rinjin outside the Four Violet Flames Formation and speechlessly covered his forehead.

Meanwhile, both Orochimaru and Hiruzen's eyelids twitched simultaneously, their hearts sinking in unison.

Damn it! An even more troublesome guy had arrived!

Without time to think further, Orochimaru instantly pulled out two kunai tied with talismans, thrusting them toward the back of the First and Second's heads.

Just then, something unexpected happened.

A pair of large hands suddenly appeared from thin air, firmly gripping Orochimaru's wrists.

Following that, Rinjin's head, body, and legs seemed to slowly emerge from empty space like a painting materializing on canvas.

"Orochimaru, you and the Third Hokage keep fighting—I need to chat with Second Grandpa for a bit!"

Saying this, Rinjin easily removed the kunai aimed at Tobirama, then hooked his arm around Tobirama's and forcibly pulled him aside.

"Long time no see, Second Grandpa."

"Don't call me Second Grandpa—I'm not your Second Grandpa!"

Tobirama rolled his eyes hard and retorted irritably.

Hearing this, Rinjin immediately shamelessly sidled up to him, chuckling:

"How can you say that~ Tsunade and I are married—what else should I call you if not Second Grandpa?"

Upon hearing this, Tobirama hadn't reacted yet, but Hashirama looked at Rinjin with delight. From his expression, if his body wasn't being controlled, this old man would definitely come over to enthusiastically shake Rinjin's hand.

"Little Tsuna got married?! Young man, you're not lying to me?! My granddaughter could actually get married?!"

After saying this, Hashirama's dark eyes were full of excitement as he muttered like a chatterbox:

"Wonderful! Wonderful! With that girl's gambling addiction and spoiled personality, she actually managed to get married. Such a big fool is really rare~"

Not far away, Rinjin, who had excellent hearing, instantly darkened, glaring unkindly at the muttering Hashirama.

Meanwhile, Tobirama's eyes were full of regret.

Damn it! I shouldn't have let Tsunade keep an eye on this bastard back then! Damn it! This is infuriating!

Snorting viciously, Tobirama glanced dissatisfiedly at his cheap grandson-in-law and questioned him like an old man:

"Rinjin, how are you doing these days, kid?"

Hearing this, Rinjin immediately answered with a smile:

"Don't worry, Second Grandpa—all the casinos in the ninja world belong to me now. Tsunade's won so much she's sick of it and has completely quit her gambling addiction!"

Badass! Tobirama gave him a mental thumbs up.

But thinking about it carefully, something felt very wrong. As for what exactly was wrong, his not-so-sharp brain couldn't figure it out.

After a moment of confusion, Tobirama hesitantly nodded and reluctantly praised:

"Uh... you... put in a lot of effort..."

Hearing this, Rinjin scratched his head with a silly grin, then asked the question on his mind:

"Second Grandpa, do you have memories of the Pure Land?"

"Hmm..." Pondering, Tobirama shook his head.

"No, the most recent thing I remember is the last time with the mirror..."

Hearing this, Rinjin frowned, sighing somewhat disappointedly.

He wanted to understand the Pure Land! If he remembered correctly, after the Fourth Great Ninja War ended, it was the Sage of Six Paths, who had been hiding in the Pure Land, who gathered the previous Kage and used summoning jutsu to call back Team 7.

What did this mean? It meant that although the Sage of Six Paths was dead, he had unimaginable control over the Pure Land.

Plus, every time he used Summoning: Impure World Reincarnation, he had a feeling of being watched.

The Sage of Six Paths hiding in the Pure Land gave Rinjin a very bad feeling.

Thinking of this, having gotten his answer, Rinjin ignored the tense situation on the battlefield and instantly formed a one-handed seal.

The next second, his figure disappeared.

Mission accomplished—if he didn't leave now, when would he?

He absolutely wouldn't stay behind to clean up Hiruzen's mess. The Hokage lineage was conducting their traditional disciple-kills-master ceremony—what did that have to do with him, the Daimyo of the Land of Rain?

He wasn't some white lotus who had to rush in and clean up every mess!

With Rinjin's departure, both Hiruzen and Orochimaru breathed sighs of relief.

In Hiruzen's eyes, Rinjin was a threat even greater than Orochimaru. In Orochimaru's eyes, Rinjin was too capricious—a massive unstable factor.

This was why he had let Rinjin chat and reminisce with Tobirama. When facing a chaotic neutral existence, the best approach was to ignore him!

The tradition continued. Orochimaru again pulled out two kunai for controlling the Impure World Reincarnation bodies and inserted them into the First and Second's bodies.

Meanwhile, Rinjin strolled through the noisy streets, contemplating.

The Second Hokage's words didn't seem like lies. So now there were two possibilities before him:

First, when the souls of the dead went to the Pure Land, no new memories were formed.

Second, the dead actually had memories, but when they left the Pure Land, the parts about the Pure Land were left behind.

The second guess also had two possibilities: the Pure Land passively retained the dead's memories, or the Sage of Six Paths intercepted the dead's memories.

Just as Rinjin was pondering, the bright sky suddenly darkened.

Looking up, he saw Choza Akimichi, using the Super Multi-Size Technique, wielding a large club and heavily striking the head of a massive two-headed serpent.

From an alley behind him, two figures quickly rushed out.

"Sensei!"

A surprised voice rang out, and Rinjin instinctively turned to look.

He saw Inoichi Yamanaka and Shikaku Nara hurrying up to Rinjin, their faces full of joy.

"Thank goodness! Sensei, my son went outside the village to chase Sand ninja—please look after him!"

Without another word, Shikaku tearfully grabbed Rinjin's hands.

"Not going!" Rinjin shook his head.

Seeing this, Shikaku immediately let go of Rinjin's hands, and despite being a father himself, dramatically started wailing:

"Favoritism! You take such good care of Senior Fugaku's two boys, but when it comes to me, you refuse immediately!"

As his words fell, Inoichi and the towering Choza instantly stared straight at Rinjin with condemnation in their eyes.

Seeing this, Rinjin's face immediately darkened.

Damn it, these three bastards!
