"Boom." A tremendous explosion erupted from the small island in the middle of the ocean, followed by all kinds of alarm sirens wailing. Then a blast of wind and sonic booms swept across the entire island, and as for the surrounding robots, they were instantly blown to pieces, crashing into the walls and then bursting into a series of sparks.
"This is practically harvesting. Well, good luck to those guys." Sure enough, just as Tohka had expected, that person really wasn't here. Sitting cross-legged in midair—since she hadn't worn any skirt today, she wasn't worried about any wardrobe malfunctions—Tohka simply sat there watching the chaos below. There was no need for her to intervene in this sort of situation. It was nothing but a one-sided slaughter.
Under the onslaught of Miku's sound waves and the Yamai sisters' fierce bombardment, hardly any of those enemies could maintain any kind of attack formation. What's more, most of them were just robots—even though they tried to mount an organized counterattack, it amounted to nothing effective. They could slow the girls down from entering, but they couldn't actually harm them.
"All right, I've got her." At that moment, a clone of Kurumi Tokisaki suddenly appeared from who knows where, came right up to Tohka, and whispered to her in a very serious tone. The usual crazed smile was nowhere to be seen. She quietly added, "I already dragged her out. But when I found her, she was lying on an operating table, covered in blood. And I also found the recent records—you'll never guess..."
"No need to say it. I already know." Kurumi had wanted to go on, but Tohka interrupted her. She'd already known what was happening and had no desire to hear it a second time. As for those "experiments," she had only briefly explained them to Miku, Kaguya Yamai, and Yuzuru Yamai. She hadn't gone into details—just thinking about it made her want to burst out in murderous rage. That Westcott bastard hadn't even treated Spirits as people. Not even as animals. So, in this moment...
"All right. The goal's been achieved." She cast a cold smile at the chaotic island below and shouted to the others who were wreaking havoc in the distance.
"Oh, is that so?" Hearing Tohka's call, the three of them stopped what they were doing and flew over to her. After all, their mission was to rescue that Spirit—since it was accomplished, there was no point staying here. They all turned to leave, ready to return to Tengu City and see the rescued Spirit.
"Wait." But just then, Tohka held out her hand and stopped them.
"Since we're already here, we can't leave without making sure Westcott gets a deep impression. Kaguya, Yuzuru —this is yours." With a cold smile and eyes glinting with killing intent, Tohka looked toward the island and addressed the Yamai sisters.
"Uh…uh-huh, I got it. Wahahaha—leave it to me!" Seeing Tohka's murderous gaze, Kaguya froze for a few seconds, then broke into a triumphant grin.
"Agreed. If that's how it is, then we'll handle it." Yuzuru also nodded firmly.
In an instant, the two of them flew high into the sky, their bodies emanating fierce gales. One wing each manifested at their backs, and at the same time, the Angels they each possessed also materialized.
"Um, Tohka…isn't this a bit much?" Miku, who wasn't nearly as keen on all-out combat, looked hesitant. The Yamai sisters were basically berserkers, with a natural streak of madness. Since Tohka had asked this of them, they were clearly excited. But Miku couldn't understand why Tohka was suddenly so violently angry. Even in the harsh world of Marvel, she'd rarely seen Tohka with this expression.
"Oh my…you can't blame her right now." At that moment, Kurumi's clone drifted to Miku's side, quietly took her hand, leaned in close to her ear, and began to whisper. Of course, none of this escaped Tohka's notice. But she didn't care. And judging by how Miku's face went from shocked to furious to icy with killing intent, Tohka knew Kurumi had just told her what Nia Honjo had been through.
"How could they…those bastards." Miku clenched her fists, her voice shaking with rage.
"Hurricane Knight (Raphael)— Skyrunner (El Kanaph)!" Up in the sky, the voices of Kaguya and Miku rang out at once. In an instant, the gigantic arrows Tohka had once carried for them reappeared. This time, the sisters held nothing back—and unlike last time, the target below was no Tohka.
"Boom." A deafening roar split the air. Flames blasted skyward. The buildings below were instantly swallowed up in fire and explosions. The sea surged violently as water rushed over what remained of the island. The Yamai sisters' attack had utterly obliterated its foundation. The burning island was completely consumed by the ocean, and if not for the steaming waves, no one would ever have guessed that a fortress had been there moments before.
"Ah—so satisfying. It really does feel best to go all out. What's with those faces?" Landing lightly after their release of power, Kaguya and Yuzuru were grinning, but when they saw the atmosphere around them, they blinked in confusion.
"It's nothing. Let's go." Tohka swept her gaze across the scene, then turned to Kurumi. "Where's Nia Honjo now? And why hasn't your real body shown up?"
"Well…originally, I was going to ask her a few questions. But it seems this isn't the time. My true self already took her back ahead of us. We'll regroup at your place and talk about it then." Kurumi's clone finished her explanation, then descended and vanished.
"All right, let's go. We'll talk once we're back." Tohka looked at the others and spoke calmly to the confused Yamai sisters and the still furious Miku. Then all of them quickly turned and flew home. At that moment, Tohka could finally understand what Magneto must have felt facing William Stryker.
