Irene was surprised to find that the Commander was not only awake, but he was poring over some letters late at night at one of the chairs beside his fire. A mug of ale was sitting on a table next to him. There was no evidence of food nearby.
Before he could answer her, the sight caused Irene to ask, "Have you eaten this evening?"
As Henry eyed the red haired knight, he couldn't help thinking that maybe it wasn't about the promise at all that she was there. Perhaps she simply wanted to see him.
Never would he have expected that the once aloof Dame Irene Litharion would be so eager to see him. But admittedly, that was what he needed after such a hot and cold relationship as the one he was in before. If Irene could remain warm and never get cold, he didn't think he would mind it so much.
