Shen Yao arrived at the Fu residence at dawn.
The mansion loomed behind its glass walls. It was monotone and utterly lacking in life.
The guards at the gate stiffened when they saw the emblem on his car. No one stopped him.
Inside, the air was stale. Yu Weiwei sat in the living room, hands trembling around a cup of tea she hadn't touched. Her husband stood near the window, staring out at the artificial horizon.
The moment Shen Yao entered, both turned.
"Director Shen," Fu Siyu said, voice hoarse. "We weren't expecting you."
"You should've been," Shen Yao replied evenly. "After what happened last night, I think everyone was expecting me."
He didn't sit. He simply stood there, long coat trailing slightly against the marble, eyes cold.
"The servers at Central collapsed," he said after a pause. "Every trace of Project Prometheus, gone. Do you have anything you want to tell me, Mr. Fu?"
Fu Siyu's face tightened.
"Director Shen, if you're implying.."
