Ji Xiao held Fu Ling close for a long moment, letting the other person steady himself against him.
Finally, Ji Xiao pulled back just enough to look at him, fingers still lingering near the collar of his coat.
"There's something I want to tell you."
Fu Ling's voice was low.
"I'm listening."
Ji Xiao hesitated before speaking. Everyone thought his words were pipe dreams, and even those who chose to cooperate with him had no faith in the project.
But he just wanted to tell Fu Ling. Whatever his reaction was, Ji Xiao could handle it.
"Actually, I've been working on a project. It's about interstellar research."
Fu Ling tilted his head. "Interstellar?"
Ji Xiao's eyes flicked toward the holographic projection hovering above his worktable, faint lines of code and schematics shimmering in the dim light.
"Yeah. Space travel. Planetary exploration. Pace expansion. Faster-than-light simulation algorithms. I wanted to see how far this world could go."
