Liam stood completely frozen.
For several seconds, he simply stared at the empty tray in the dwarf's hands as though his eyes were refusing to accept what they were seeing. Just moments ago there had been seven disgusting, pale worms squirming across the metal surface, each one twisting and writhing in a way that had made even the witches uncomfortable. Now there was nothing. Not a single crawler remained. The tray was completely empty, almost as though the creatures had never been there in the first place. Liam's expression slowly tightened as he looked from the tray to the dwarf, then back to the tray again. His mind went through every possible explanation, but none of them made any sense. He had been watching the creatures. Everyone had been watching them. There had been no flash of light, no movement, no spell, no visible technique. They had simply disappeared.
