"We've arrived," Denovan said as the car rolled to a smooth stop in front of the theater.
The engine went quiet, but the world outside was anything but. Valentine's Day had painted the entire place in red and gold.
Heart-shaped balloons swayed above the entrance, ribbons fluttered lightly in the afternoon breeze, and the faint scent of roasted nuts and buttered popcorn drifted through the air.
The driver quickly stepped out and walked around to open the door for Julie, while Denovan himself moved to open the door for his dear wife, Lisa.
Julie stepped down slowly, her heels touching the pavement with a soft click.
She turned her head from side to side, taking in every corner of the place. The theater entrance shimmered with decorative lights even though it was still daytime.
