"The Evolutionary Magnetic Field can allow the Pokémon mentioned earlier to complete their evolution. Through our research, the device that releases this field can now be made much more compact, and it can even trigger evolution while the Pokémon remains inside its Poké Ball."
As he spoke, Shiro raised one hand slightly to the side.
Several researchers immediately stepped forward to connect the equipment and began operating it. One of them first released a Boldore from a Poké Ball, let the audience take a look, then recalled it and placed the ball into a slot in the device.
With another wave of Shiro's hand, the machine was activated.
As the power flowed, a bright light flashed inside the device. Once it stabilized, the glass cover automatically opened.
The Poké Ball looked no different from before, but when the researcher threw it out again, the Boldore inside had already evolved.
"This is the simplified Evolutionary Magnetic Field device," Shiro explained calmly. "Devices like this can now be installed in Pokémon Centers. Trainers whose Pokémon were previously unable to evolve due to magnetic field requirements will finally have a way to help them reach their next stage."
He paused briefly before continuing, "Next, we have a new discovery. Professor Rowan will present it."
After speaking, he handed the microphone to Rowan behind him and stepped back slightly.
The professors and researchers below all instinctively straightened in their seats. Many of them showed confused expressions. They were not surprised by the Evolutionary Magnetic Field report itself. After all, it was Shiro's original theory, and to put it bluntly, Rowan had only assisted in the research.
But this so-called "new discovery"… what exactly was it?
Everyone, including Oak, was filled with curiosity.
The Evolutionary Magnetic Field theory had been proposed nearly a year ago, so anyone studying evolution already understood it well. What surprised them was how something new could be developed from it in such a short time, and without a prior paper, proven directly through a live demonstration. That alone made it extremely intriguing.
On stage, Rowan took a deep breath to steady himself. After a short pause, he raised his hand toward the device that had just been brought up.
It looked like two simplified Evolutionary Magnetic Field machines connected together, which only made things more confusing.
In the front row, Oak leaned forward with a frown, trying to get a clearer look.
"This," Rowan said firmly, "is our latest discovery and research result. A Pokémon exchange device… or rather, a Pokémon storage system."
A Pokémon storage system?
Hearing this name, the professors and researchers below started whispering among themselves.
"The name sounds strange. What does 'storage' even mean?"
"It can't just be a box to hold Poké Balls, right?"
"Can it send a Poké Ball from one side to the other?"
"That sounds too unbelievable. Might as well say there's a Psychic Pokémon hidden inside."
"Let's just watch and see."
Even so, they maintained their composure. After a few brief whispers, the hall fell silent again, giving the presenter their full attention.
Seeing the crowd begin to whisper, Rowan instead let out a quiet sigh of relief as the tension in his heart disappeared.
This was a Pokémon transfer device, a truly groundbreaking invention. Anyone seeing it for the first time would be shocked.
He quickly instructed his researchers to begin the experiment. After powering on the machines and opening both covers, they each took out a Poké Ball.
They released the Pokémon inside, a Turtwig and a Chimchar, and showed them to the audience. Then they recalled them and placed the Poké Balls into the two devices.
From below, Oak raised his hand.
"Professor Oak, please," Rowan nodded.
"Will this device cause any changes to the Pokémon in any way?" Oak asked.
Rowan shook his head. "No. This device has no effect on the Pokémon."
As soon as he said that, the confusion in the hall deepened, though no one spoke up.
In such a serious setting, at the top academic conference in the Pokémon world, no one believed this was a joke. No one thought Rowan or Shiro would present something meaningless just to waste everyone's time.
Only Oak, who had asked the question, seemed to understand something. From the name of the device, he had already guessed its purpose.
On stage, Rowan pressed the switch, and the machine started.
A low hum filled the air. After another flash of white light, the process ended.
The two Poké Balls remained inside the devices, completely intact.
Click.
The glass covers opened.
Everyone in the audience held their breath, not daring to relax for even a moment.
"Please guess what Pokémon is inside this Poké Ball," Rowan said as he picked one up.
Very quickly, a young researcher below raised his hand and answered that it contained Turtwig.
Everyone had seen clearly. Not only could they tell which Pokémon was which, they could even describe their development in detail.
"Heh, alright…"
Rowan gave a soft chuckle and threw the Poké Ball.
A flash of red light appeared, and a Chimchar jumped out.
The Chimchar scratched its head, looking confused about how it had ended up there.
"What?"
A large number of researchers in white coats stood up at once. Those seated behind them could not see, so they also stood up.
"It's Chimchar? The Pokémon were swapped?"
"Open the other Poké Ball! Check what's inside that one!"
The hall instantly became noisy.
On stage, Rowan was not flustered at all. Instead, he smiled, his white beard lifting slightly.
He walked over to the other device, picked up the Poké Ball, and raised it high for everyone to see.
"Take a good look. This was originally Chimchar's Poké Ball."
He threw it.
Out came a Turtwig.
"This device can swap Poké Balls between both sides… no, not just swap. It can also transfer a Poké Ball one way," he explained, then instructed the researchers to continue.
One of them placed Chimchar's Poké Ball into the device again and activated it.
After a flash of white light, the Poké Ball had already moved to the other side.
At this point, anyone who still had doubts fell completely silent.
Finally, Shiro stepped forward and took the microphone to conclude.
"We will publish a detailed paper on Pokémon connection and exchange theory later. This storage device is simple to operate, and we will leave it here for everyone to study."
After finishing, the researchers from Rowan Research Institute bowed together and stepped off the stage.
Moments later, thunderous applause erupted from the audience.
