Chapter 407: The Powerful Yun Qing

Tang Zhong's quiet sigh of amazement went unheard by the Sweet Tofu Pudding Team, but as Ang Tian began recounting Yun Qing's past achievements, the rest of Yun Qing's teammates couldn't help but show expressions of surprise.

Yun Qing had only casually mentioned to them that he possessed the strength of a Spirit Emperor and was a Gold Spirit Fighter, claiming that his odds of victory against those of the same rank were quite high. He had never bragged or exaggerated his abilities. Thus, it was only now that the others realized—the teammate they had been fighting alongside was actually a legendary figure in the Spirit Arena.

"With the captain around, this one's in the bag," Paide laughed, his face lighting up with excitement. The rest of the team, too, felt their confidence surge.

Yun Qing merely smiled slightly and said nothing. In truth, this match was meant more for entertainment than competition; there was no way he could unleash his full power as he once had in the Spirit Arena.

Because of the special circumstances this time, both teams had already agreed beforehand that no matter the outcome, no points would be gained or lost—it was purely a friendly exhibition match.

As such, Yun Qing was participating merely as an ordinary diner, not as a professional combatant.

What he hadn't expected, however, was that by signing up under his real name, the Spirit Arena had recognized him—and Ang Tian, the host, had gone out of his way to make a spectacle of it.

Thinking of this, Yun Qing looked up at Ang Tian on the elevated platform with mild helplessness.

Since breaking through to the Spirit Emperor rank, his odds of victory against other six-ring Gold Spirit Fighters—many of whom had far greater spirit power—had not been high. Because of that, Yun Qing had been keeping a low profile for quite some time, not participating in any Spirit Arena matches. But now, it seemed, keeping a low profile was no longer possible.

After finishing Yun Qing's introduction, Ang Tian went on to introduce the other members of the Sweet Tofu Pudding Team. Compared to Yun Qing, though, their introductions were much briefer.

With both teams' strengths now publicly revealed, it seemed that, on the surface, their overall power levels were fairly even.

However, considering Yun Qing's exceptionally high points, the Sweet Tofu Pudding Team was still seen as the more likely winner.

Faced with countless pairs of burning eyes, Ang Tian knew that if he delayed any longer, the guests would grow restless. So, after a brief countdown from three, he announced the start of the match in a passionate voice.

As the battle began, both teams charged toward each other. Yet judging from their somewhat disorganized movements, it was clear that neither side had much teamwork or coordination.

Everyone was well aware of this fact—after all, both teams had only been formed the day before and hadn't had any proper training together.

After a short burst of chaotic skirmishing, Tang Zhong shouted in a low voice, "You guys take care of the others—I'll handle Yun Qing first!"

They were both six-ring Spirit Emperors. Even if he couldn't defeat Yun Qing outright, Tang Zhong was confident he could at least hold him off for a while.

As long as he could keep Yun Qing occupied and his teammates managed to eliminate a few of the enemy first, they could later regroup and take Yun Qing down together—it wasn't impossible.

With that, Tang Zhong's speed surged. Six spirit rings rose behind him, and he stomped heavily on the ground. From beneath his feet, countless vines engraved with eerie ghost faces burst out of the arena floor, wildly twisting toward Yun Qing.

Ghost Vine!

Tang Zhong's martial spirit was one of the more troublesome plant-type spirits—the Ghost Vine. From its texture and appearance, it was clearly a mutated variant, even more dangerous than the usual kind.

In fact, this Tang Sect Medicine Hall disciple was one of the few in that branch known for strong combat prowess despite being a control-type Spirit Master. His martial spirit and techniques were difficult to deal with, and he was also well-versed in various Tang Sect secret techniques.

The Sweet Tofu Pudding Team also had Tang Sect disciples among them. Those "defectors" had already described Tang Zhong's martial spirit and abilities in detail, so Yun Qing was well-prepared for what was coming.

Though he seldom visited Shrek City, Yun Qing had encountered many Tang Sect disciples during his travels and Spirit Arena matches across the continent.

Compared to ordinary Spirit Masters, Tang Sect disciples were adept in the sect's many secret techniques—the equivalent of having several extra spirit skills—and combined with their use of hidden weapons, they were all the more formidable opponents.

Yun Qing's eyes gleamed. A pair of black-and-white gloves silently appeared on his fists, and as they manifested, faint mist began to spread through the air around him.

Martial Spirit: Yin-Yang Weather Gloves.

As Tang Zhong's Ghost Vine martial spirit rapidly coiled toward him, Yun Qing neither dodged nor retreated. The second spirit ring behind him lit up, and his right fist opened into a palm. He pushed forward toward the oncoming tide of ghostly vines.

The mist swirling around his gloves erupted outward, enveloping all the vines completely. From within the haze came the faint patter of rain—and to everyone's astonishment, the Ghost Vine was unable to pierce through the mist even slightly.

Second Spirit Skill: Yin Rain!

Tang Zhong's face changed. As the master of the Ghost Vine, he could sense everything happening inside the mist with perfect clarity.

The sound of rain wasn't an illusion—there really was rain falling within that mist.

And every drop of that rain was like a sharp needle, repeatedly stabbing through his vines. In the blink of an eye, they were not only halted but severely damaged within the clouded area.

Plant-type martial spirits, though somewhat similar to weapon-type ones, did not suffer permanent harm to their users when damaged—but such damage did consume large amounts of spirit power. Realizing this, Tang Zhong's expression grew more serious. He quickly withdrew the remnants of his Ghost Vine, casting a wary glance toward Yun Qing.

He had never heard of Yun Qing's martial spirit before. But from that brief exchange, it was clear that it wasn't an ordinary power-based assault type. There was something strange and unpredictable about it—he would have to be extremely careful.

As Tang Zhong continued rushing toward Yun Qing, his movements became noticeably more erratic and elusive than before, his figure flickering unpredictably and leaving afterimages in his wake.

Tang Sect Secret Technique—Body Technique: Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track!

The purpose of using this technique was obvious—to prevent Yun Qing from blocking his advance with the same skill as before.

At the same time, Tang Zhong's fourth spirit ring lit up quietly. Countless sharp Ghost Vines erupted from beneath Yun Qing's feet, lunging upward to impale him. Compared to the earlier entangling attack, this strike was far more sudden and vicious.

But Yun Qing—nearly at the level of an Amethyst Spirit Fighter—had combat experience beyond measure.

The instant Tang Zhong's spirit ring lit up, Yun Qing's entire body tensed in readiness. As soon as he sensed the faint fluctuation of spirit power from below, he reacted instantly—leaping high into the air.

His third spirit ring shone brilliantly, and golden lightning arcs danced wildly over his gloves. In the next moment, he smashed his electrified fists downward toward the vines just emerging from the ground.

Zzzzt—!

With a sharp crackle, bolts of lightning burst outward from the point of impact, scattering wildly in all directions.

Where Yun Qing's gloves struck the thick cluster of Ghost Vines—woven together from dozens of tendrils—a charred fist mark appeared, black as soot.

Electric arcs crawled rapidly along the surface of the vines, making them twitch violently. Under the surge of power, they could no longer advance even half an inch.

Third Spirit Skill: Clouds Overcasting Thunder!

Although plant-type martial spirits didn't directly injure their users, they were still spiritually connected. As the Ghost Vines were struck by the lightning, Tang Zhong felt a wave of numbing pain ripple through his body, causing his movement rhythm to falter—and even the tempo of his Ghost Shadow technique broke apart.

A faint smile rose on Yun Qing's lips. Out of the corner of his eye, he glanced at the chaotic melee raging among the others, fully understanding Tang Zhong's strategy.

'Trying to stall me while your team eliminates mine?'

'You'll have to actually stall me first!'

Behind him, his fourth spirit ring flared brightly. Yun Qing raised his left hand, and before Tang Zhong—his movements disrupted and his eyes widening in alarm—could react, Yun Qing pointed straight at him, his fingertip shining with blinding light.
