Chapter 2 - Chapter 1:When light still ruled

Now where did it all begin...

Ah! Right.

Humanity — known to persist through any adversity. From the age of dinosaurs, to Rome, to Pompeii.

Time and time again, we have stood up — stronger than before. More wiser than before.

That has always been the case. But this usual pattern... was gravely changed.

「June 15th, 2035」

That was the day humanity's reality shifted forever.

I was just a baby then, but I've always remembered the stories Mom told me about it.

Who am I you asked? Fufu... fine, I guess I should tell you.

I'm not Stella Commet.

But the one the magical girls call an Evil Magical Girl, as for my name? You'll learn soon enough

「7am」

People were going on with their daily lives — some off to Starbucks, students lining up at the bus stop, waiting to go to class.

My mom, in particular, was carrying me in her arms.

She was a single mother.

She had nowhere to drop me off, so as always, she'd bring me to her work — a cashier at some konbeni.

Mom would walk happily, glancing down at my black eyes and bright smile. My chubby hands reaching out for her.

She was grateful — her manager allowed her to bring me while she worked.

And I, too, was happy. That I got to see the warmth of my mother's smile.

"W-What is that? A-Ahhh!"

But that joyous moment... was abruptly shattered.

My mother looked behind — and saw a man pointing toward some... inky, bipedal creature.

It looked nothing of this world — horrendous, as if trying to mimic a canine or a bear, but failing miserably.

At first, people thought it was some movie stunt — a hologram, maybe.

But those thoughts — and my mother's expectations — crumbled the moment the creature lunged at the man pointing at it.

The sight of blood... the man's screams... were enough to convince anyone that this wasn't some film set.

The crowd near the creature scattered instantly. No one tried to save the man being eaten alive.

After all — why would they? It was something none of them had ever seen before.

"Eep!"

My mom — eyes wide in terror — hugged me tightly and ran.

She thought it was just one creature. But no. As she ran, she saw cars smashing into lamp posts, roads once calm now flooded with chaos.

It was terrifying... how quickly everything changed. A complete 180 — from ordinary to apocalypse.

Hearing and seeing all this chaos unfold… my young mind couldn't bear what was happening around me.

Tears started to form in my eyes, and all the confusion I felt could only be expressed through one thing…

『Uwahhhhh! Wahhhhhh!』

My mother looked at me, panic etched across her face, her eyes wide.

"N-No no… my sweet babygirl, now's not the time to cry."

She cradled me in her arms as she ran, her voice trembling with fear.

But my cries had already drawn the attention of those hideous, ink-like creatures.

All the creatures in the vicinity turned their heads, eyes locking on the origin of the sound.

They sniffed the air, drool beginning to fall from their mouths—the hunt had begun.

As my mother ran, the beasts scattered through alleyways, some darting across streets, others climbing atop buildings.

"Shhh, my sweet baby… please don't cry anymore," she begged, her voice frantic.

She turned her head, and in her peripheral vision, she caught the silhouette of a creature.

And then another, to her right.

She was surrounded. All she could do was run in a straight line… but she knew she couldn't keep this up for long.

Her strength was fading. Her arms ached, and she feared she might drop me at any moment. She wasn't just running for her life—her arms were tied, occupied with carrying me.

"Oh no…"

My mother skidded to a halt when she found herself face-to-face with the back of a building.

To her left, a bird-like creature stared hungrily.

To her right, a cat-like beast eyed her with sharp intent.

And behind her… the same canine-like monster she had glimpsed earlier. She was truly surrounded.

She pressed her back against the wall, holding me tightly, her chest heaving.

However, the beasts didn't show mercy. Why would they? She and her daughter were just prey.

They stepped closer and closer, until they were at a dangerously close distance.

My mother and I could feel their breath, their foul stench.

My mother closed her eyes and held me tightly—I still couldn't stop crying. She curled up on the ground, shielding me.

The canine-like creature growled, fangs glinting, ready to strike.

『Oh heavens above, please help this poor girl cleanse the world of evil』

A cheerful, almost musical voice interrupted, just before the beasts could strike, a tiny, concentrated beam struck each of their heads with surgical precision, and a cheerful, musical voice rang out

I remember my mother and I couldn't help but trace the voice's origin, only to see a young girl descending from the sky like a superhero.

When her feet gently touched the ground, she looked at my mother with a warm, reassuring smile.

As she navigated through the corpses of the creatures, careful not to ruin her shoes—

「Are you okay, ma'am?」

She reached out her hand to my mother.

I could never forget that smile, that presence.

A smile so warm it could melt anyone's heart and give courage.

Pink hair styled in long twintails,

And above all, a red dress that dominated the scene, paired with a wand.

"Thank you for saving me and my baby. May I know your name?"

My mother kept bowing, overflowing with gratitude.

The young girl blushed, scratching the back of her head sheepishly.

"Hehe! The name's Stella Comett, leader of the magical girls—please remember it!"

My black eyes shimmered as they reflected her bright smile, and her V-sign fingers.

For some reason, I no longer felt the need to cry.

I gave her a warm smile too—the only thing a baby could give back.
