"Got beaten up, then went into self-isolation?"
"Self-isolation is a good term." Noah sat beside Thor on the stone steps outside the London Sanctum, watching people pass by. "But I want to ask you something first. Where did that crazy woman come from?"
The two of them sitting there naturally drew attention. Mostly because they were both good-looking.
Thor didn't seem to be in a great mood.
That was understandable.
As the prince of Asgard-a battle-hardened warrior-being defeated by a woman whose actual strength was far below his peak wasn't something easy to swallow.
Of course, that was only because Thor had deliberately suppressed his power to match hers.
If he hadn't, the fight wouldn't have existed at all.
And if Kassandra hadn't volunteered to become an experimental subject, she would still be a Ninth Order "she-devil."
"She's older than you," Noah said casually, a faint smile on his face. "Her name is Kassandra. Strictly speaking, she's a descendant of the Isu."
"A descendant of the Isu?" Thor frowned. "Even so, she's far too crazy. Her combat skills are ridiculous."
"I've lived over a thousand years."
"She's lived over two thousand." Noah shrugged. "She existed before you were born."
"Her combat experience is beyond what you can imagine."
"If she weren't tired of living and experimenting on herself, she'd still be Ninth Order."
Noah didn't mind being direct.
Facts were facts.
And sooner or later, they'd all be facing Thanos together anyway.
This was just letting Thor know ahead of time.
Thor's expression visibly eased.
The frustration faded.
Losing to a former Ninth Order wasn't embarrassing at all.
"I never thought the Isu would leave something behind after disappearing," Thor shook his head. "Detestable."
"Very." Noah nodded immediately.
He had no goodwill toward the First Civilization.
They gave nothing to ordinary people and left behind endless hidden dangers.
Everything they abandoned felt like preparation for a return.
If they left, they should've stayed gone.
Noah agreed completely.
If they dared to come back, he'd give them a proper welcome.
"Enough of that," Noah said, shaking his head. "What do you actually want with me?"
"Can't I visit a friend?" Thor shrugged. "Besides, I wanted to ask if you're interested in going out and having some fun."
That surprised Noah.
"Why?" he asked. "Don't you have work?"
"I do," Thor said proudly. "I'm inspecting the Nine Realms."
So he was slacking off during work.
For some reason, Noah envied him.
He wanted to skip responsibilities too.
Too bad he usually couldn't.
Still, Noah immediately caught something important.
This year was when the Power Stone appeared.
Odin letting Thor inspect the Nine Realms now?
That timing was suspiciously perfect.
Even if Noah didn't know exactly when Star-Lord would show up, that didn't matter.
He could still look.
Or visit Morag directly.
Morag had once hosted a highly advanced civilization.
The Power Stone had always been there.
Later, the planet became abandoned.
In the movie, Star-Lord used special equipment to glimpse its past.
The locals had studied the Power Stone.
Whether the planet's destruction was caused by leakage from the Stone was anyone's guess.
The Infinity Stones were alluring.
And terrifying.
"I'm not interested in inspecting the Nine Realms," Noah said after a brief pause.
Thor looked disappointed.
Then Noah continued.
"But if it's traveling, that's fine."
"Traveling?" Thor blinked. "No problem."
"How many people are you bringing?"
That mattered.
The galaxy was vast.
Some places were fun.
Some were dangerous.
With fewer people, options widened.
With more people, destinations narrowed.
It wasn't about danger.
With Noah and Thor present, danger barely existed-unless someone like Thanos showed up.
But survival still mattered.
People used to Earth didn't always adapt well to space.
Even Noah had needed time on the dwarf planet.
"Just you and me," Noah thought for a moment. "Maybe one more sorcerer."
"Who?" Thor rubbed his chin. Then his expression changed. "No bringing your girlfriend."
"...Relax." Noah smiled awkwardly. "I'm bringing Wong."
He'd wanted to bring Hermione.
Thor clearly wasn't ready for that.
So Wong it was.
Noah apologized to Hermione silently.
He turned back into the Sanctum and explained things to Wong.
Wong, surprisingly, believed him.
But he hesitated.
If Noah left, the London Sanctum would be unmanned.
"Isn't Dennis here?" Noah said. "He's not weak."
"Giving him responsibility is good training."
"Dennis..." Wong hesitated. "Alright."
After settling that, Noah pulled Thor aside and discussed destinations.
Thor was still considering options.
Noah already had an answer.
"What do you think of Xandar?" Noah asked casually.
"Xandar?" Thor paused. "You know that place?"
"It's a good choice."
"The Nova Corps won't provoke conflict. Peaceful civilization."
"Perfect." Noah nodded decisively.
Thor agreed.
Xandar had good relations with Asgard.
Even if something went wrong, he could smooth it over.
Once plans were set, Wong finished preparations.
As always, efficient.
Reliable.
No complaints.
Noah understood why Strange kept him around in the original timeline.
Anyone would.
After sending messages to Dennis and Mrs. Hafen, Noah opened a portal.
He'd been to Asgard countless times.
With the Space Stone, it was trivial.
Thor happily saved effort and followed along.
His axe could summon the Bifrost, but there was no need.
In Asgard, they boarded a spaceship.
Thor had prepared it in advance.
"Tell me," Noah asked, leaning back. "How did you know I'd agree?"
"Easy," Thor replied without turning around. "I asked Loki."
"He said you've been complaining about a lack of freedom."
"So I knew you'd come."
"Then why not inspect alone?" Noah asked. "Why drag me along?"
"Because it's boring," Thor said frankly.
"And you have a good relationship with your girlfriend."
"As a wizard, staying together all the time isn't ideal."
"Going out to see the universe is better."
Noah didn't argue.
That part made sense.
