Chapter 6 - Six Annihiliths

In an instant, one of the Annihiliths lunged at her. Sylvia pointed her umbrella at the Annihilith, unfurled the umbrella, and pressed a button on the shaft. Then, the umbrella's panel extended until it hit the lunging Annihilith. After that, the umbrella's panel went back to its shaft.

The lunging Annihilith's black hole-like head cracked slightly as if it was glass. The Annihilith was instantly sent backwards, falling to the ground in a comical manner. Upon seeing this, the two Annihiliths lunged towards her.

Sylvia furled her umbrella, and tapped the end tip of the umbrella on the ground. At that moment, two floating icicles that were blue in color appeared, floating beside her.

Sylvia tapped her umbrella on the ground again. The two floating icicles immediately rushed towards the two Annihiliths, making the two aliens stop to raise their blade-arms to block the impending attack.

But as the two floating icicles were about to hit the two Annihiliths, Sylvia revealed a faint smirk. Her right hand that was holding the black umbrella moved slightly.

The two floating icicles became faster, passing through the two Annihiliths, and struck them from behind. Then, the both of them let out a "shriek" that sounded more like a distant black hole.

Weak and stupid… Sylvia slowly approached.

The Annihilith from earlier that was laying on the ground regained consciousness, raised its head, and saw its two companions with sharp icicles stuck on their backs.

It stood up, and removed the two icicles on its companions' backs. The two injured Annihiliths rushed towards her again.

"Hey, I said I'd finish this quickly, didn't I?" Sylvia's serious expression intensified, and in an instant, she disappeared from the two Annihiliths' sights.

The two Annihiliths' visions immediately turned pitch-black. Absolute darkness.

The Annihilith with the cracked head watched this scene in a daze. A few seconds earlier, Sylvia flash stepped, and with her black umbrella on her right hand, she instantly decapitated the two Annihiliths. After that, the two Annihiliths fell to their knees, their black hole-like heads instantly disappearing like flickering lights. The black, furled umbrella she used to decapitate them was sharp to the touch like a sword.

Upon seeing this scene, the third Annihilith took a step back. Its black hole-like head was intensifying, becoming more and more rageful.

With a "shriek," the Annihilith lunged towards Sylvia again.

"Hmph." Sylvia tapped her umbrella on the ground again. Behind the lunging Annihilith, one of the icicles that struck the backs of the earlier two Annihiliths suddenly floated up, and immediately went towards the rushing Annihilith.

The Annihilith felt a sharp, agonizing pain on the back of its "head," the pain too much to bear. But in just half a second, its vision darkened.

Sylvia watched as the Annihilith fell to the ground, its black hole-like head slowly dissipating.

Too easy…

Tapping her umbrella on the ground again, the two icicles disappeared in thin air. Then, she turned her head, looking at the other three Annihiliths that were banging their blade-arms on her fellow Visitor's barrier.

Meanwhile, Leon was sweating. His barrier was beginning to crack, and he wasn't sure how much he could keep this up. In truth, he could easily exterminate these three Annihiliths, but since Sylvia asked "kindly" not to kill them since this was her mission, Leon resisted the urge to do so.

Then, he heard Benedict beside him say, "Hey, if you can't keep the barrier up anymore, it's fine."

Upon hearing those words, Leon had an idea. Since Benedict didn't know that Leon knew he was a former Visitor, Leon asked, "Why? I'm the Visitor here, and it's my duty to protect. If I release this barrier, we'll get hurt. Unless you know how to fight these things, then I'll gladly release the barrier for you."

Benedict's eyes slightly widened. Oh, right, he doesn't know I'm a former Visitor… Benedict let out a soft chuckle as he said, "My bad. Keep going, Donovan. Don't let them break the barrier…"

Leon felt his temples throb frustratingly. How the hell can I bring up the fact that I know he's a former Visitor…? Since he's been hiding it from me for so long now, it's obvious he doesn't want me to know about it…

Plus, once Sylvia's done, she might just get to the point and ask him to return to Umbrellas. This will result in me, and possibly Rosalind and Lillian, to know he's a former Visitor… Hm, does Lillian already know? Leon tightened his hold on his black umbrella.

Suddenly, he felt the air turn warm. It grew warmer and warmer, until Leon and the others felt they were on a volcano.

While Sylvia was approaching the three Annihiliths, she also felt the hotness around the area. Then, she saw a ring of fire appear behind the three, distracted Annihiliths.

In an instant, a pillar of flame emerged from the circle of fire, and a man in a brown leather jacket with blonde hair walked out of the flame pillar. The ring of fire shrank, until it disappeared along with the pillar of flame.

It was none other than Jacob Perkins, the man who took Leon and Rosalind to this wedding. At the sight of Jacob, Rosalind immediately shouted, "What took you so long?!"

"My bad…" Jacob took off his sunglasses. The three Annihiliths who were banging their blade-arms on the barrier turned around, and saw a man in blonde hair taking off his sunglasses. They saw the man's bright, fiery, yellow eyes.

"Volgard Family, move out of the way," ordered Jacob.

Benedict revealed a faint smile, and said to Lillian and Leon, "Well, you heard the man. Let's go."

Wait, is he going to kill the Annihiliths?! Where's Miss Sylvia—

Benedict spread his arms out, and moved with Lillian and the others to the side. The barrier was dispelled because of this.

The three Annihiliths rushed towards Jacob with a "shriek." But then, Jacob's eyes burned bright, and the next thing the three Annihiliths knew, they were being burned by flames.

Jacob crossed his arms, smiling as flames shot out from his eyes, burning the three Annihiliths in front of him.

A few seconds later, the flames disappeared, the green grass was now burned, and the three Annihiliths were nowhere to be found. They had turned to ashes.

Jacob put his sunglasses back, and said with a bright smile, "Threat exterminated." But then, he felt a sharp pain on his left cheek as though he just got punched by a gorilla. Jacob fell to the ground, unconscious.

The fist that punched Jacob belonged to none other than Sylvia. Her serious expression was even more intense this time. It was mixed with pure, seething rage.

Leon watched this scene with a straight face. Yeah, I should be careful not to piss her off in the future…

As Sylvia was staring at the blonde, unconscious man, she heard a feminine voice call out to her from the side.

"Hey! Why'd you knock him out cold?!" It was none other than Rosalind. She was approaching the female Visitor who was wearing a turtleneck sweater.

"Because he took away my money. And it was getting hot," replied Sylvia.

Leon's brows furrowed. Took away her money…? Oh, right, when a Visitor is given a mission, that same Visitor must be the one who exterminates the Annihiliths. Each Annihilith kill that isn't theirs results in no payment…

Rosalind revealed a fuming expression, and said, "I don't care. He's my bodyguard!"

Leon's brows furrowed again. Bodyguard…? Didn't that guy just introduce himself as a friend of my sister? Or… is he the only one who thinks that he's a friend, while she doesn't? Heh…

Sylvia didn't respond as she walked past Rosalind and went in front of Benedict and Lillian.

"Hey! Don't ignore—" Before Rosalind could finish her sentence, Leon appeared right beside her and put a hand on her shoulder, indicating she should stay silent for now.

As Sylvia faced Benedict and his wife, she said with a normal expression, "Benedict Volgard. You are to return to Umbrellas as a Visitor immediately. The higher-ups demand it."

Upon hearing her words, Lillian turned her head to look her husband in the eyes. "Benedict…?"

But as for Benedict, the moment his newlywed wife finished speaking, he chuckled softly. He then said to Sylvia, "Lady, I'm sorry, but I can't go back. Tell the higher-ups that they can kiss my ass."
