For a moment she did not know what to say.
Kael watched her quietly.
Then his teasing smile softened a little.
His voice dropped slightly.
"You know," he murmured.
"You are very bad at hiding your feelings."
Lyria's heart began to beat faster.
She kept her gaze lowered and whispered quietly.
"It's nothing important."
Kael did not immediately reply.
Instead he slowly loosened his arms from around her shoulders and stepped slightly to the side.
Then he leaned against the nearby wall and folded his arms.
His eyes remained fixed on her.
"Hmm."
The faint smile returned to his face.
"Now that makes me even more curious."
The rain outside struck the window harder for a moment as thunder rolled across the sky. A brief flash of lightning illuminated the room and then faded again, leaving only the soft lamp beside the bed casting its warm light.
Lyria kept her eyes lowered.
