Everyone from the Veydrin estate stood silently before Kael.
No one spoke nor any one tried to stop him.
But their eyes said everything.

Elfie suddenly hopped up and climbed onto Kael's head, her small hands grabbing onto his hair as she balanced herself.
"Papa… can't you take Elfie?" she asked in a soft, hopeful voice.
Kael raised his hand and gently held her so she would not fall.
"I will," he said with a faint smile.
"Once I return, I will take you over the stars."
Elfie's eyes lit up instantly.
She followed his gaze as he looked upward, as if he could already see those distant stars.
"Promise, papaya?" she asked, her voice full of excitement.
Kael chuckled softly.
"I promise, papa."
Elfie giggled and hugged his head tightly.
