The mayor took a deep breath and smiled,
"Alright, I will see you at the meeting."
Then he walked to his car and got in. However, he just started the engine but did not step on the accelerator or let the car move even an inch. After all, he did not know what the problem was. Most likely, the brakes had been cut and if the car started moving there was no stopping it. Everything he did was just for show. To avoid whoever tampered with the car relax and think that their plan succeeded.
After watching the deputy mayor's car drive out of the parking lot and join traffic on the main road, the mayor switched off the engine and got out of the car. He took out his phone and called his most trusted assistant. He knew that he could not just trust anyone now, but his assistant was different.
