Chapter 4 - chapter 4

Within a different world that sat separately from both the ghost world and human world, as only a portal that opened once every full moon gains access to those who want to enter or leave.

To those of higher power call it the Shattered Reality, a world dangerous and unpredictable compared to what you're use to. Floating islands, fantasy and dangerous creatures and plants that'll kill you without battering an eye. Yet ghost like beings and other creatures manage to make a living through the centuries that passed there, as the portal to a new world remained a myth in fairytales.

However, a kingdom as large as a country was ruled by a ruthless king and queen that stood by his side. They were ghost kind of species classified as higher beings compared to others, only a few shared a special bond within blood to show their rank in this world. Red for commoner, green for a warrior, royal blue for royal, purple/pink for corrupt creatures, and shimmering gold for...???

"So have they found them yet?" A dark deep husky voice echoed through the thorn room, as his skin was black as coal and hair shimmering red like blood while it flowed like a unstoppable flame, matching his eyes that pierced everyone who dared to stand against them.

The guard who they were glaring at so coldly was a mere polar bear that stood with intel, gulped anxiously aware of the king's power in this place and how easily he can kill them in a heartbeat. In a sign of respect they placed a closed paw against their chest proudly.

"No sir. It's like they just disappeared into fin air, not even our Grounddogs can find a scent on them" the guard replied causing causing him to scowl in return, clenching their claim into the throne chair letting out a low growl.

"You're just as useless as my wife. Find that thing before I do it myself?!" The king growled clenching their clawed hand into a fist and bashing it against the chair arm. The room slightly shook from it. "I'm starting to lose hope in all of this nonsense.." he sighed messaging the bridge of his nose.

"Maybe you should send the prince, sire? He's very successful in any hunt they're given, I'm sure he'll catch them for sure!" The guard proudly suggested brining up one of the eldest sons of the king. Prince Solar. A spitting image of his father in every way, just as heartless and cruel.

"My son?.." the king questioned their judgment of the matter, as the queen walked in. Dressed in their royal gown, light pink skin and dark rose red glowing long hair, and green eyes. The definition of a poisonous rose. "Ah, Dione. My lovely wife, come and sit with me" he smiled as if forced when she sat down on the smaller sized throne beside him. Her expression was just as sour and cold.

"Have I missed anything?" She asked as he peered down seeing the growing pregnant bump, his eyes softened a little before moving his claws hand under their chain making her look up at him.

"Only me missing my beautiful wife, but other than that. They failed to find them, so I'm sending Solar out to do it" he responded keeping her mostly in the loop, as if already making the decision on what the next cause of action should be. She wasn't happy about it.

"No, Lucius! Why does my son have to get involved in finding that damn wench?" Dione protested allowing her hormones to overtake their cloud of judgment, as Solar was fully grown and a father of two newborn sons.

"He's a grown man. A father and my next heir to the throne. So allow him to prove his worth and bring that THING back before the coronation" Lucius argued back with a fair point of his own, making her question herself for a moment. As Solar summoned himself, barging in high and proud before stopping near the king's throne, kneeling there in front of his father.

"I heard you wished to see me father?" Solar stated glancing up to meet his fathers gaze with no fear, but a endless bound of respect for him. Lucius grinned when seeing their son standing back up.

"I have something I need to sort out for me. You do remember our escaped prisoner, right?" Lucius began to explain seeing Solar nod in familiarity of this prisoner and how much of a nuisance it caused when they escaped. "Good. I need you to help find them, as most of these rejects are absolutely useless when it comes to hunting down a potential threat to our empire if they are left out there building a potential army to harm us" he added making it sound like this individual was something dangerous, and should be detained or at least killed if unable to be chained down for eternity.

Solar understood the mission he had been assigned to, bowing before his father and left questioning nothing future as he began the search at the cell where the individual had escaped from.

"Hm.." noticing the broken chains that were cut by some sort of ectoplasm energy, leading him to believe that someone must've freed them. Touching it seeing that it was old and bad rusted away as the flow of magic that kept the chains together was cut. "We have a traitor within our ranks.." he muttered staring at the dried red blood within that cell, past whipped marks from claws and whips could be seen around the stone walls and floor.

Taking his time, Solar began to build up evidence to find this traitor in order to find out where this dangerous individual that was imprisoned here had been hiding all this time. Yet nothing was found to link anyone to this crime.

"What if they never find her? Won't it doom the entire kingdom?" Solar heard silent gossips between some of the maids who were already aware of the failure of some of their guards. Even when he approached they immediately stopped sensing his intense energy, as they greeted him in fear.

"P-prince Solar.. we didn't see you there. We're deeply sorry!" A black fur wolf maid apologised along with the other maid, a hairless cat of some sort. He scoffed at this and walked off. Allowing the maids to sigh with relief.

He then walked out of kingdom bounds, arriving before a covered up cave that was hidden by magic. As he went through with ease and followed the short path of twists and turns, until reaching an opening that revealing a portal of sort. It was active, yet nothing could go in or out of it unless both full moons in both worlds align together can it finally open.

"Someone clearly was down here, I can sense traces of magic.. ghost magic to be specific" Solar scowled sensing the old uses of magic like a wolf could when scenting the smell of its prey. It was as long as when the prisoner had escaped, yet only a few of their people had access to this place. Royal Guards to be specific. "Where's that cat when I need it?" He hissed referring to a personal pet used for tracking, a refine large feline species that only a rare handful of beings in the realm have for hunting. Far better and accurate than Grounddogs could ever compare to.

He whistled for it to come, as it mostly lurked in the nearby woods. And within a few minutes it phased through the wall and landed beside him, a large lion like feline with huge two fangs, and a dragon like spikes along its tail. One of the many different looks this species has. It lowly mewed at him, knowing that he needed something from it.

"Sniff.. and hunt" Solar demanded in a cold tone, as it immediately went down and sniffed the Royal Guard's scent, eyes shut whist highly concentrating to properly pin point who it belonged to. Until it's eyes snapped open with a low growl finally getting what it needed, and was off following it like a lioness on the prowl. "Finally!" Solar was eager to find this traitor and gain that last bit of respect from his father and take the place on the throne once and for all.

It began to lead him deep within the woods, far from the kingdom long it took to find whoever freed their prisoner. But who it turned out to be shocked Solar as he came across a familiar looking cottage, owned by one of his father's most trusted Royal Guards. Faris Furgorn.

"This can't be right.. you must've gotten the wrong track! Stupid cat!" Solar growled not taking this seriously as he was outraged at the most accurate hunting machine in the entire realm. It only huffed and snuck over, as if not done with the task is was given. "So darn stubborn. Get back here, Felix!" He yelled trying to call it back, but failed dramatically as the cat stopped at the knight's door, glancing over at Solar to enter. Who sighed having no time for its antics and went over anyway.

The door was slight ajar when he gently pushed it open, hearing the creak as it slowly opened all way. Allowing them to walk inside feeling the cold atmosphere like no one was home, it smelt fresh and was dark.

"Faris?.." Solar called out for the Royal Guard, just to be met with deafening silence. So he went deeper inside and lit up the candles, using a single swish movement of his hand. The house was untouched and Faris was nowhere to be seen, like he had vanquished as they weren't at the castle either. "That's odd... he isn't the type to just vanish like this. He wouldn't.. would he?" Solar didn't want to believe it even as the evidence amounted to this one guy, but it only became more strange when they disappeared on the same day the prisoner escape. Why wasn't he notified of Faris' absence?

Back in Amity Park, Devina was grabbing herself some things when she came across someone they had met at the balls, but never properly introduced themselves.

"Devina is here, I should finally introduce you to her. After all you did help save her from Vlad" Jazz mentioned grabbing her brother's hand dragging Dan who allowed her as he sighed when they approached Devina. Who turned hearing footsteps approaching them.

"Oh, hello!" Devina greeted them with a sweet smile which at first took Dan by complete surprise, staring in disbelief at this compared to how they first met.

"It's so good to finally see you again! How long as it been? A week?" Jazz was happy to see them while Dan just shook himself back to reality, regaining his composure.

"I know, I've just been busy settling into my new home. I do apologise for not texting or call you as much" Devina apologised remaining so innocent and sweet, when communicating with them.

"Oh! I forgot to properly introduce you two. Devina this is Dan, my older brother unfortunately" Jazz jokingly said referring to Dan who sighed messaging the bridge of his nose. Devina peered up and walked up to him showing no signs of fear or being uncomfortable.

"It's very nice to finally properly meet you" she reached a hand out for him to shake, as he was hesitant for a moment, but reached out and took it feeling how small her hand was compared to his.

"So tiny.." he thought slightly narrowing his eyes softly accidentally moving his thumb to touch the top of her hand. "You're far too innocent to know how dangerous this world can be" Dan added casually taking his hand away as she just innocently smiled at him, not taking his little warning seriously. Jazz loved how they were starting to get along, but saw how worried Dan was of his oddly calm behaviour of Devina's.

"Anyway, I need to finish my shop and head off back home and start baking! I'll text you later, Jazz" Devina then waved them both goodbye as they returned them back, seeing her walk away to get what is needed to start baking.

"That woman has no idea what kind of dangerous lurk around this placed, does she?" Dan asked turning his attention to Jazz once Devina was completely out of his view. That was when he saw her arms crossed with a grin, as if knowing something he didn't. "What? Why are you looking at me like that?" He asked confused on what she was thinking, or even cooking up to say against him.

"I saw how you touched her hand. You like her~" she teased as he froze not expecting her to take such close notes on what he'd been doing, but he wasn't even aware himself of what happened.

"Don't be ridiculous! I just met them, even if she's very pretty. Looks are nothing, it's all about who they are on the inside that matters" Dan argued back showing no falter in his words and body language, immediately having Jazz dismiss the question when hearing him deny it.

"Aw come on! I saw how you looked at them" Jazz kept pestering Dan even as they began to walk back home, even pushing him so far to transform and fly off having enough of this for one day. "Don't have to be a big baby about it" she grumbled walking rest of the way home by herself, texting Devina to see if she was back. They were immediately replying wondering what she was doing.

'Just heading back home. How did you get back so quickly?' Jazz texted back confused when seeing the dots move, stop and move again, eventually getting a response.

'I'm not exactly home yet, I almost am. Just walked on the pathway to get there. Then I can finally bake!' Devina texted back adding excited emoji's when sending a picture of the pathway, it was beautiful during the afternoon. Yet scary when it's dark, as anything could be lurking around in there. Watching you.

'Woah. You didn't tell me you moved out there! You sure you're going to be alright?' Jazz replied with some sad emojis making Devina chuckle as she read them, glad to have such a good friend.

'I'll be fine. Why not sleep over whenever you're free? We can have a girl's night' Devina suggested only to be on read for a moment and then sent and excited emoji.

'Yes?! We should totally do that! Plus I just asked mum and she said I can go, is this weekend okay?' Jazz was clearly excited through her texts, as they eventually reached their destinations the more they exchanged words.

'Sure, that'll do' Devina lastly texted with a thumbs up when she reached for her keys and let themselves in. Locking the door soon after as she walked through seeing the bags down beside the kitchen, seeing how clean and well organised everything remained. Even when greeted by a eager little Maine coon kitten, a mixture of colours flashed on its fur of black, white and ginger.

"There is my little boy~" Devina immediately picked him up, hearing the purrs as soon as she petted his soft long fur. "Prince~" she called his name only making him purr more, feeling their gentle touch let them.

Eventually, Devina put the kitten down and began to lay out the exact stuff needed to bake some homemade cookies. Taking a picture of it and sent it to Jazz of a clue if what she'll be making.

"Let's get baking" she said to herself excited to make something absolutely delicious for themselves or those who they care about. Following the exact instructions from the top of their head, she makes the dough soft and perfect to cut into any kind of cookie shape.

Mostly traditionally round like one is supposed to be, she added the uncooked dough onto the tray and slid them into the already hot over.

Shutting it as a timer was set for 10 minutes and began to clean the counters to pass the time. Humming a tune whilst they cleaned the kitchen of the mess she had made.

"All clean and sparkling" Devina was proud of how clean she had polished the sides. And soon after the timer went off, she walked over and turned it off before grabbing the oven mits that rested neatly on the counter. Taking out the trap that held perfectly round chocolate chip cookies, and placed them on the side to cool. "They look so good!" She was proud of the achievement of making these cookies, including their golden brown crunchy texture, it was almost mouthwatering with how they looked and smelt. So fresh.

Remembering what they had texted with Jazz, she prepared some cookies for them, but put the rest into a cookie jar for anyone to grab for a little snack. Yet something was off, like she was missing something.

"Hm.. I wonder what I'm forgetting?" She thought talking the bottom of her chin with their index finger, deeply trying to think when a cold shiver went through their body almost electrical not noticing that their eyes flashed a light shade of blue for a millisecond. "What was that?" Devina was confused no longer feeling that strange feeling anymore, glancing down to their hands as it felt like the electric energy fully leave their body.

This was only the beginning of a confusing change for Devina, as she too was unsure of what they were or even where she arrived from. Yet they felt like Amity Park was home.

Following the upcoming weekend that week, Jazz sent them a message wanting confirmation of her brothers and sister could join.

'Sorry for the last minute text, but can my siblings tag along? I accidentally told them about the place and they got a bit.. excited? And wanted to come by and see it' Jazz texted along with some anxious emojis, as Devina picked up their phone seeing the message only chuckling at it.

'Sure! Why not? More the merrier am I right? Just make sure they don't break anything' Devina replied loving the idea of making some people over to make the house feel a little less empty, quiet and cold at times.

'You sure? You can always say no' Jazz responded knowing how Devina hated to deny anyone due to her kindhearted nature, but this was nothing compared to what she would usually do. Helping others, including the elderly and young.

'Quit worrying, I'm sure it'll be alright. Besides I made a fresh batch of cookies if they want any' Devina lastly replied putting her phone down on the living room table, taking a moment to chill back on the soft wine red fabric sofa, with black and white pillows. As she watched some series they had missed out on, laughing along with some of the funny scenes. Patiently awaiting for their guests to arrive.
