By now, some comments in the livestream chat had also caught on:
[Isn't that the meteorite that fell in Yongan City? Looks a lot smaller though]
[Why would the meteorite be here?]
[Loot drop!]
Xingtian noticed the anomaly as well.
The towering mecha strode up to the mound of flesh and bent down to pick up the glowing "stone," which was the size of a water bucket.
But the very next second, the "glowing stone" floated up into the air on its own—and then flew off rapidly.
"..."
Xingtian visibly froze for two seconds, then hurriedly gave chase.
The stone moved so fast that Xingtian even had to activate its engine boosters just to barely keep pace.
The stone wasn't moving on its own, of course—it was because the invisible Bai Jie was carrying it and running.
It hoped to take the meteorite fragment with minimum risk and minimum cost!
One, it didn't want to reveal its existence in front of a whole squad of Enforcers. Two, it didn't want to face Xingtian and the fighter jets' relentless bombardment. Three, lying low and striking when opportune suited a spider's instinctive nature.
At the same time, Bai Jie wasn't surprised that Xingtian had chased after it.
Because its "Invisibility Camouflage" skill only applied to itself and its own products—spider silk, venom, and the like—it couldn't make the meteorite fragment invisible.
So Bai Jie needed a place to hide.
But unfortunately, this was the outskirts—flat ground and roads all around. The only structures were low, wide buildings like the Containment Base, which were ill-suited for hiding.
"I need to get out of here immediately. Sorry, Master Xingtian, for all your hard work, but I need this more than you humans do."
"Guess I'll have to run back the way I came—toward the city. I can lose Xingtian fast there, and that huge mecha probably can't easily enter the crowded city streets either."
Just as the spider was thinking of an escape plan, its heart suddenly lurched. Its hairs stood on end.
Spider Sense!
Bai Jie instantly accelerated, veering sideways.
BANG! A fiery explosion erupted right where Bai Jie had been a moment before. Though the spider dodged in time, it was still caught in the blast and sent flying.
"M-my... my butt hurts..."
Bai Jie groaned inwardly as it "looked" back at its rear. Relieved, it found its butt was still there—just a little fur singed off.
"Thank goodness they were aiming at the meteorite fragment."
Whoosh whoosh!
Suddenly, several rockets trailing smoke entered Bai Jie's vision, rapidly growing larger. But Bai Jie didn't dodge.
Because at its current speed, fully avoiding rockets was still somewhat difficult.
And it had no desire to test its flesh-and-blood body against rocket bombardment.
So, as if time had frozen, Bai Jie was forced to make a choice.
In that single instant, a helpless sigh also echoed within its heart:
"Forget it. I'm done hiding."
With that single thought—
The rockets reached five meters around the demonic spider—and suddenly stopped!
They stopped for no reason at all, as if an invisible force encircling the spider's body had frozen everything in place.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The next moment, the rockets detonated!
Thick smoke billowed, fire flashed, and several deafening explosions shook the air. Smoke filled the field of view, debris flying everywhere.
...
"Everyone, that glowing stone somehow flew off on its own! Xingtian chased after it, and we can now see Xingtian has fired several more rockets."
"We don't know yet if that glowing stone is alive. Let's wait and see."
The female streamer panted as she chased onto the main road, far in the distance watching that cloud of smoke rising into the sky. She narrated.
And stabilized her shaky camera on its stand, aiming it at the blast zone.
Many Enforcer machines had also arrived, staring intently ahead.
As the smoke dispersed, the female streamer's red lips parted in shock—wide enough to fit a goose egg. Even the Enforcers glanced at one another in dismay.
"Wait!"
"Wh-what is that..."
Bzzzt. Bzzzt. Bzzzt bzzzt...
At the center of the dispersing smoke, a dense web of electric arcs—flickering with crystalline radiance—surrounded a dark silhouette.
Even from a hundred meters away, the female streamer felt the powerful current. Her entire body went numb, every hair standing on end.
The numerous Enforcer machines all shuddered in unison, wobbling slightly before quickly steadying themselves. They assumed a high-alert formation, paying the streamer no mind at all.
It seemed they'd been hit by some kind of electromagnetic pulse—interference-induced surge current or voltage.
Around the electric web were fire, smoke, and rocket debris.
Inside the electric web, the ground was perfectly intact—untouched by the explosion.
What shook her even more was the silhouette within that web of lightning—behind it, spider silk dragging an enormous glowing stone.
That silhouette... was unmistakably a spider!
The scene before their eyes seared itself deep into countless gazes, violently shaking human souls.
The spider monster had a long, elegant frame. Its entire body was like obsidian, a full meter in length.
Two fangs gleamed with a chilling, deadly light.
Its eight eyes were as deep and mysterious as blue-violet cosmic nebulae. Its eight legs were clearly segmented, flowing with sleek lines, their tips visibly razor-sharp.
Its back and abdomen were full and rounded, covered in soft, pale pink-purple fur...
If the above features alone inspired an indescribable awe and terror—
Then the blue-violet patterns that coiled and rippled across its joints, back, and abdomen lent it an eerie yet breathtaking beauty, one she could not tear her eyes from.
The livestream chat went completely silent in that moment. Not a single comment was sent.
[...]
"..."
Even Xingtian stood frozen, stiff as a weathered statue of a giant god.
The mecha hadn't expected that firing at a suspicious stone would reveal a giant spider—even if this spider was "tiny" compared to Xingtian's own dimensions.
In a very short span of time, one incomprehensible event after another had unfolded.
First, a monster appeared at the Containment Base. Then it seized Xingtian's axe. Then the stone glowed and flew off on its own. Then a web of lightning neutralized the rocket explosions. And finally—this giant spider materialized out of thin air!
...
After a long two seconds, Xingtian moved.
A single, power-laden mechanical foot stepped forward. Its abdomen flickered with fire—another volley of rockets spat forth, streaking toward the uncanny giant spider.
Whoosh whoosh—trailing long plumes of smoke, the rockets struck the electric web and stopped as if frozen.
Bzzzt. Bzzzt...
But this time the rockets didn't detonate. Instead, wrapped and enveloped by electric arcs, they seemed to melt like candles, dropping onto the soil.
The heat of melting metal made the soil itself steam and smoke.
A five-meter radius around the spider—a dense web of lightning! Melting metal, dissolving iron!
Not even rockets could get close!
This kind of power was no longer that of a mutant creature like the flesh mountain—this was a god or demon!
A god or demon that commanded the majestic forces of nature!
"No... impossible! It's impossible..."
The female streamer clawed at her own hair, losing composure, murmuring as if in a trance.
The livestream chat erupted. Comments flew out like bullets from a Gatling gun—so fast that viewers couldn't read a single one.
The viewer count skyrocketed, breaking from a few hundred thousand to over ten million in the blink of an eye.
Then suddenly, the screen flashed. The livestream plunged into darkness. A line of text appeared in the center:
