Cherreads

Chapter 5 - The boy with the white hair

"Have you ever wondered what your true favorite color is. Mine is red, cause every time I look at something with a red color, I can't control myself but smile."

"Speaking of which? Do you know who my favorite person is?"

A young girl with long black hair and a bright look on her face said while playing with a stick from a cherry tree.

"What is my favorite color?"

"I don't know. I guess mine is also red." To the young girl's right was a young boy with a bright smile, holding a dead cicada.

"Then, who is your favorite person?" the girl asked again, smiling a little at the boy.

"My favorite person is—" But before he could finish, the boy's mind went blank, swallowed by darkness. Then, in the blink of an eye, he found himself walking down a road with his friends. All their faces a blur.

Suddenly.

"You don't know how to sing either." The boy spoke as he giggled. everything looked foggy, and there were some people behind them, and one of them looked like they were furious.

"So, Yuuki, you know, I always wanted to ask you something ever since I saw you." A girl with short black hair walking right next to him asked. This girl was Miyoko—the same girl from the first chapter.

"Huh?" The boy replied while he turned and looked at her, and then suddenly Miyoko started flushing and then muttered, "It's nothing." Nervously, as she looked away from the boy.

....

A moment later, the boy looked up, curiosity written all over his face. Then, scratching at his chest, he asked, "Hey… by any chance, did we meet somewhere a long time ago? I mean, like, seven years ago?"

Miyoko looked at the boy with a curious face. Still flushing, and as she was about to answer, blood was all over the place, and the boy, including everyone on the spot, froze with shock, as Miyoko, who was walking next to the boy, fell on the ground.

Just after Miyoko hit the ground, one of the people walking behind the boy called out loud. "Mio!" As they reached out their hand to her. The boy froze for a moment, and the next, he forced himself to move, trying to check on Miyoko while blood covered his whole face, when suddenly he started hearing someone who sounded like they were not close, calling out, "Hajime!"

The boy didn't stop because he had the priority to check on Miyoko, who was out cold on the ground, when the voice called out again. "Hajime!" And without knowing it, the boy replied to the voice, and in the blink of an eye, the boy saw something like a bullet coming in between his eyes,

A moment later, he woke up, surprised, and bumped his forehead on a girl's nose.

"Aaargh!" The girl groaned in pain as she touched her nose.

The boy thought to himself, not noticing the girl in front of him. 'What was that about?'

The girl, still in pain, let out a small moan, grabbing the boy's attention.

"Rica! What are you doing in here?"

The girl didn't respond as she was still in pain, when suddenly her nose started bleeding.

A second later, the boy blinked, confused by the situation he had found himself in, but he didn't let his confusion show on his face.

".... Are you feeling okay?" He asked.

Though he was doing his best to hold in his confusion by maintaining a blunt look on his face, his voice couldn't help but announce everything he was feeling at the moment.

The reason the girl was there in the first place was that she was trying to wake up the boy. they were going somewhere on this colorful day... And, she wanted to bother him a bit.

After a moment, she finally opened her eyes, a massive cloud of tears forming. But before she was able to say anything, the door behind her clicked open.

"What's going on in here?"

A tall, beautiful girl who looked similar to the girl asked, closing the threshold of the door, making Hajime spun to face her.

Her name is Reiko, and the girl who was in the room first was Rica, and the two were blood sisters.

"Augh...?" The boy murmured; he had no idea why the two girls were doing in his room. He had some idea why, but he couldn't conclude yet.

"What happened to her?" Reiko asked, carefully observing her sister as she noticed blood streaming down from Rica's nose.

"Were you fighting again?"

She concluded. Though she knew there was no way in hell the two could fight while she was at home, and they were both too weak to manage to make each other bleed.

"No! I just woke up and found her like that." And she isn't responding to any of my questions."

The boy replied in his defense. A frustrated look on his face while shifting away from Reiko. He knew if he failed to explain exactly what happened, he was going to be punished. The punishment was no food for the rest of the day, and he just woke up.

Reiko blinked, a serious look on her face as she moved closer to Rica, who was in pain, her nose still running.

When she saw Reiko approaching, she didn't try to run or do anything stupid, but she just watched her get even closer to her.

Some seconds later, Reiko used an ability or skill called infinity healing. She used it to recover Rica's broken nose, permanently, without leaving any traces of any injury.

The moment she was using the ability, the whole room was filled with a blight cyan light that could even be seen outside the house they were in.

It took longer than it usually takes to heal a small injury, making Reiko furious that she forcefully grabbed Rica's ear and pulled it just enough to make Rica squirm in pain.

"What were you doing in here?" She asked.

"You're hurting me," Rico said nervously as she tried to remove Reiko's hand from her ear.

....

Sometime later, they finally solved the question of why Rica was in the boys' in the first place. Now they were onto another case where they were planning to go somewhere after they left the boy's room.

"Did your mother leave you with any kind of weapon?" Reiko asked while letting go of Rica's ear.

The boy was confused as he wondered why his mother would leave him with a weapon, and for what purpose.

"A weapon?" He uttered.

Rica looked at Reiko with a complicated face while thinking that Reiko was asking the boy for a weapon so that she could obscure her.

"No. I mean, I don't think so." The boy replied while he turned and looked at Rica, who was busy staring at her sister with a sorry look.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Reiko asked while she turned her head to face Rica; her face was still neutral, though.

'Oh no, was she going to dice Rica if mother had left me with a weapon?' the boy thought to himself, thinking that it was good he didn't have any weapon, as he too started staring at Reiko with an even more confused look on his face.

"Seriously." You too?" Reiko uttered, shifting her gaze and looking at the boy, but the moment their eyes met, she noticed something in the boy's eyes, but she never uttered a word about what she saw.

The boy, confused, thought Reiko was focused on his face, not knowing she was focused on something else. entirely.

"Oh, it's not what you think. I only wanted to know if you had any weapons for your training today, that's all." Reiko said while turning around and heading towards the door.

"Training, what do you mean?" the boy asked.

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot yah dossed off yesterday while she was explaining about the training thing," Rica said with a teasing smile on her face while looking at him.

"What's so funny?" he asked, brow furrowing.

"Nothing, it's just funny seeing how yah almost fell on your seat yesterday when you were sleeping." Rica teased.

"Oh yeah‼"

"You're forgetting how you almost blew your head off while trying to look cooler than me in front of that... Thing."

The thing he was talking about here was a small dragon that looked almost human, but with a tail and scales on some other parts of its body. It's also Rica's pet, or her only friend, honestly speaking.

"But in the end, it ignored you and chose Reiko." The boy smirked, looking at Rica with her eyes wide.

She almost snapped, cause she couldn't stand hearing someone talk about how her pet dragon ignored her and chose somebody else. But before she was able to say anything, Reiko interrupted.

"Enough, you two, and get ready." She paused, a smile on her face, looking at the two behind her. "Know I'm not going to be easy on you."

She continued as she walked away from the room while the boy and Rica slowly turned and looked at each other.
