The light had gotten a little brighter by the time either of them moved, and even then it was just Rael shifting his arm to rest behind his head, giving her more room without fully pulling away.
Gaia didn't say anything about it. She laid there a little longer, staring at the ceiling, listening to the quiet of the room and the distant sounds of whatever was happening outside it.
It was strange, she thought, how comfortable this was. She had spent a very long time in spaces that were entirely her own, filled with silence she had chosen herself, and she had never once thought of it as lacking anything.
This was different. Someone else's warmth beside her. Someone else's breathing in the room. The silence felt fuller somehow, which didn't make much sense, but she wasn't in the mood to interrogate it.
