Chapter 183: The Trailblazer—Beerus Enters the Battle
"Done talking yet?" Vegeta looked at the noisy exchange, urging impatiently.
Lin Qi cut the communication line. Judging from the squabble, Whis and Beerus were far from finished.
"You're the one who wants to become a Super Saiyan God, not me. I've already helped you more than enough—of course the candidates are your responsibility!"
That had always been Lin Qi's intention anyway. He never planned to go calling on Raditz and Nappa. His dream of a Saiyan Kingdom was long gone.
"If you don't want to ask Raditz and Nappa, then make a trip to Namek. Use the Dragon Balls to revive Goku!"
Seeing Vegeta grit his teeth and clench his fists tightly, Lin Qi knew full well—this guy wasn't about to patch things up with Nappa and the others.
He was clearly in the middle of a deep internal struggle.
"Vegeta, you're a prince. Have you never thought about reviving Planet Vegeta? Bringing back the Saiyan race?"
"If you can't even unite the Saiyans in front of you, are you just going to keep fighting or severing ties with every Saiyan you meet in the future? What kind of Saiyan prince does that make you?"
Lin Qi unloaded a verbal barrage on Vegeta. After all, if he couldn't form the Saiyan Kingdom himself...
Then he could at least make Vegeta the trailblazer and lead it. Staying behind the scenes wasn't such a bad option.
"Think about it carefully. I've got other things to do." Without giving Vegeta a chance to respond, Lin Qi used Instant Transmission and disappeared to the God of Destruction Realm.
Beerus, that bald cat—it was time to settle things once and for all.
Whoosh—
When Lin Qi arrived at the God of Destruction Realm, Whis and Beerus were still mid-argument. The moment Beerus spotted him, he immediately redirected his fury toward Lin Qi.
"Hmph! You damned Saiyan! You're originally from Universe 7, and you were dumb enough to get tricked by Quitela!"
"Fine, you got tricked, but now you're from Universe 4. And yet you still have the nerve to come back to Universe 7? What, trying to please both sides?"
"Tch… Since when was Universe 7 no longer my homeland?" Lin Qi shot Beerus a look of disdain, then turned to hand Whis a paper bag.
"Been busy lately. This is a Michelin specialty—crazy expensive! Way beyond most people's budget!"
"Michelin? The same as the one you gave Vados last time?" Whis chuckled as he accepted the bag. "Seems like you're still quite thoughtful."
"Of course. Just don't share it. If you want more, just let me know. Worst case, go to Earth—find Vegeta or Bulma."
Lin Qi said casually. Now that Beerus was awake, there was no need for him to keep feeding Whis. Time for Bulma to take over.
And Vegeta and Goku should soon be training with Whis too. Heh… looks like we've finally reached the Dragon Ball Super arc?
"Michelin? What's that?" Beerus stopped scolding and started sniffing, drooling as he stared at the bag in Whis's hands.
"Whis, you actually snuck snacks while I was asleep?! What is that? Smells amazing!"
"Hehe… Lin Qi brought this just for me, Lord Beerus. You don't get any!" Whis protectively hugged the bag.
"Hmph! Can't you at least share a little?" Beerus crossed his arms and edged closer.
"Nope! This is mine. If you want some, go ask Lin Qi yourself!" Whis took two steps back and used his staff to stash the goodies away.
"…Lin Qi?!" Beerus turned to the grinning Lin Qi. "You…"
He really wanted some, but his pride wouldn't let him ask. What now? He was clearly anxious.
"No problem! But after you eat, I hope you'll fight me—finish the match we never completed!"
Lin Qi didn't beat around the bush. He casually extended another hand from behind his back, offering Beerus a bag of the same goodies. "Deal?"
"Deal!" Beerus didn't even hesitate. He snatched the bag and tore it open eagerly.
Only after Beerus had licked his fingers clean and savored the last bite did Lin Qi finally ask, "Wanna fight in the Null Realm, or should Whis open a pocket dimension?"
"Doesn't matter!" Beerus swung his arms. "I'm well rested and well fed—time for some serious exercise!"
"Whis, check with Cognac—has Quitela woken up yet?" Lin Qi suddenly remembered that annoying rat had been obsessing over this moment.
"Alright! Just a moment…" Whis opened a comm link, and Cognac responded almost immediately.
"Really? Lord Beerus is awake? Great! I'll go wake Lord Quitela right now!"
Cognac hung up quickly, and within three minutes...
Yawning, Quitela and a smiling Cognac arrived via instant teleportation, courtesy of Universe 4's Supreme Kai, Kuru.
"Didn't expect Beerus to sleep for so long." Quitela yawned, then instantly perked up and locked eyes with Beerus.
"You damned cat! Last time, I nearly broke you! This time, I'm finishing the job!"
"Hmph! Stupid rat! Have you lost your mind in your sleep? When did you ever break me?" Beerus folded his arms and glared at Quitela.
"It was Lin Qi… last time…"
"Enough chatter! If you keep arguing, when are we ever gonna fight?" Seeing the two start bickering again, Lin Qi clenched his fists and cut them off.
Excitement and anticipation surged.
Alternate Dimension.
In the endless void, two figures faced each other from afar.
"You know, while I was asleep, I had a strange dream…" Beerus floated in the air, making no move to attack.
Lin Qi raised an eyebrow. "A dream? What kind of dream?"
The Saiyan God dream, huh? After all the Saiyan forms he's seen, Beerus is still dreaming about that?
"Yeah… about the Saiyan God. Can you transform into that form?" Beerus asked.
Lin Qi shook his head without hesitation. "Nope. But there are a few Saiyans on Earth who can. Want to go see them after the fight?"
"Oh? And this Saiyan God—would he be stronger than you?" Beerus let his arms fall to his sides and took a fighting stance.
"No wonder Lord Beerus woke up early—it was all because of a dream?" Whis said with an understanding smile from a distance.
"Heh, whatever the reason, I'm just glad he's up!" Quitela clenched his fists in excitement. "Take him down, Lin Qi!"
"Lord Quitela, aren't you a bit too excited?" Cognac was baffled. Was it really just because of that cat-and-mouse rivalry?
"Well, that depends on the form. Or you could just train a Saiyan into a god," Lin Qi replied as he mirrored Beerus's stance.
"In that case…"
"Let's begin!"
As Lin Qi and Beerus spoke in unison, their figures vanished from sight.
Boom!
