Chapter 188: Goku Revives, Vegeta Aims to Become a God

"Oh my, are you that angel Lin Qi mentioned? You're quite the looker!"

"Thank you for the compliment." Whis offered a refined smile before turning around to introduce, "This is Lord Beerus, the God of Destruction."

"Oh… such a big kitty!" Bulma tried to pet his head, but Beerus dodged.

"Quite a temper too…" Bulma made another attempt, only for Vegeta to rush over and stop her in a panic.

"Cut it out, Bulma!" Vegeta was drenched in sweat, feeling a wave of anxiety.

"They're here for the food!" Lin Qi also didn't want the original plot to play out, so he quickly pointed to several tables off in the distance piled with pastries and snacks.

"Whis, Lord Beerus, those tables have plenty of delicious food. If it's not enough, just say the word and we'll get you whatever you like!"

"Hmph, if I'm not satisfied, I'll just destroy this planet." The haughty Beerus kept swallowing his drool, his long tail swaying as he headed toward the buffet.

"Heh, don't worry." Whis gave Lin Qi a reassuring look and followed behind.

"I thought we only needed to gather the Saiyans?" Lin Qi cast a cold glance at Vegeta. "Why call so many people here?"

"Hmph, what are you saying? Obviously, it's to witness my husband's path to power!" Before Vegeta could respond, Bulma cut in with a huff.

"Becoming a god… such an important moment needs an audience!"

Bulma spoke as if it were a matter of course. "Just think about it—who else gets a chance like this..."

"Heh…" Lin Qi wasn't interested in arguing with her. Instead, he turned to see Trunks and Goten playing nearby.

"Goten, let's play hide-and-seek..." Trunks chased behind Goten, then turned to the distance where Mai was carrying a tray.

"Mai, go tell Pilaf and Shu to handle the trays. Come play hide-and-seek with us!"

"Uh... yes, Young Master!" Mai placed the tray on the table and quickly ran over.

"Bulma, do you think Goku can never be revived...?" Chi-Chi approached, looking utterly haggard.

Lin Qi listened to Chi-Chi's occasional complaints and mutterings. He turned to Vegeta and asked, "Why not let Kakarot come see this too?"

"Didn't he die and can't be revived?" Vegeta replied irritably, arms crossed, glancing over at Bulma, who was trying to comfort Chi-Chi.

"I've got an idea!" Lin Qi's gaze shifted to Whis—but just as he looked, he vanished in the blink of an eye.

"Hey, hey! Where'd you go again?!" Vegeta grew more agitated when Lin Qi disappeared. "When is my transformation into a Saiyan God finally going to start?"

"Damn it..."

Did that guy Lin Qi have any idea how much effort it took to gather all these Saiyans?

He even had to trick Raditz and Nappa, telling them they could become gods too!

Whoosh

But Vegeta didn't stay annoyed for long. Lin Qi soon returned, this time with a beaming Goku by his side.

"Hey everyone, I'm back!" Goku waved cheerfully.

The moment those words landed, the crowd swarmed around him, eyes brimming with tears, gazing at Goku in overwhelming excitement.

"Goku?"

"Dad?!"

Chi-Chi burst into tears of joy. Piccolo, who had been silently observing from a corner, opened his eyes and smiled faintly.

Vegeta stood off to the side, arms folded in his signature pose, expressionless. The game of hide-and-seek between Goten and Trunks came to an abrupt end.

After greeting everyone, Goku noticed Chi-Chi's tear-filled eyes. "Chi-Chi… I'm back!"

"Mmm… as long as you're back!" Chi-Chi was so emotional she could barely speak, choking on her words.

"Dad!" Goten called out a little shyly, nudged forward by Trunks until he stood in front of Goku.

"Haha… look how big you've gotten!" Goku laughed as Goten excitedly ran into his arms. He lifted his son with ease and cradled him on his arm.

"You're built just like me—solid and sturdy! Hahaha..." Goku laughed heartily, rubbing cheeks affectionately with Goten.

"Enough already... this is my moment, my path to becoming a Saiyan God, not some emotional reunion scene!"

Vegeta couldn't take it anymore. His fists clenched tightly at his sides as he shouted in frustration.

The heartwarming scene was cut short. The crowd looked at the angry Vegeta—no one knew who laughed first, but soon the whole place burst into laughter.

"Hahaha… come on, Vegeta, lighten up! We're all just happy!" Goku, ever the mood-maker, grinned as he tried to ease the tension.

"Well... having Goku back on such a special day really is something worth celebrating!" Even Master Roshi, old as he was, offered a final remark.

"Pah! Damn it, the halo above your head is gone—you're already revived, you bastard Kakarot!"

Vegeta wasn't buying any of it, pointing at the now-absent glow above Goku's head.

"If you want heartwarming, go do it at home. Right now, my business matters more!"

"Eh?" Goku looked up, confused. "I've been revived? Just like that?"

"Hoho... it was Lin Qi who asked me to help." Whis, off in the distance, put away his staff with a grin and picked up a pudding.

"For an angel, reviving someone is quite simple!" Lin Qi walked over to the crowd. "Anyone not involved, step back. It's time for Vegeta now!"

"Oh..." Everyone shuffled back several meters, leaving only Goku and Vegeta in the center.

"All right—Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Raditz, and Nappa!" Lin Qi quickly called out names.

Those who were called stepped forward with excitement, each fixing their gaze on Lin Qi.

"Line up."

Lin Qi spoke calmly. Even before things started, Goku was already too excited to hold back his curiosity.

"Is that it? This is all it takes for Vegeta to become a Saiyan God?"

"Shut it. Just follow orders!" Vegeta regretted letting Goku come back. If they were short on people, Lin Qi or Trunks could've filled in.

"Just follow my lead. As for how a Saiyan God appears—just watch with your own eyes!"

Lin Qi's smile didn't reach his eyes. He could still hear Yamcha whispering from the sidelines.

"Is this for real? This whole Saiyan thing feels like kids playing make-believe," Yamcha murmured to Master Roshi.

Still wearing those signature sunglasses, Roshi, who was just about to make a move on blue-haired Launch, cut him off impatiently.

"If you've got a death wish, don't ask me—just say it out loud instead!"
