The next morning, Berlin woke up wrapped in Karlos's arms. Sunlight was streaming through the windows, and for a moment, everything felt perfect.
Then she remembered everything that had happened. Her mother. The warehouse. The terrible things Barbara had said.
But when she looked at Karlos sleeping peacefully beside her, she felt better. He had proven his love last night, not just with words but with actions.
Berlin carefully got out of bed, trying not to wake him. She put on a robe and walked to the window, looking out at the beautiful gardens.
"Good morning," Karlos's voice came from behind her.
Berlin turned and smiled. "Good morning. Did I wake you?"
"No," Karlos said, getting out of bed and walking over to her. He wrapped his arms around her from behind. "I just missed you."
Berlin leaned back against his chest. "Last night was..."
"Perfect," Karlos finished. "And it's going to be like that every night for the rest of our lives."
