Kara stood beneath the towering shadow of Wakanda's energy pylon, her eyes tracing the pulses of electric current crackling along the spiraling length of the structure. It rose hundreds of feet into the air, humming with power, shielding the entire city with an impenetrable dome of camouflage and forcefields. The current flared brighter for a moment, and Kara tilted her head, assessing the output. "Definitely need one of these for the Empire of London," she muttered to herself. "Not just to vanish an island... but to keep out every damn bird that thinks it can deface my golden statues."
Her hand slipped into the small purse strapped to her hip. Out came the Elite Evil Apple iPhone—its sleek black design threaded with faint veins of chaos-red that shimmered like blood in moonlight. She tapped the screen once. "Wanda," she said, when the line clicked open.
"Already listening," came Wanda's voice, velvet over static.
"I've got a one of Wakandas forcefield camouflage pylon's. ETA?"
"One minute. Chaos Gate's primed."
Kara ended the call without another word. She lifted her arms and pulled off her sun hat with fluid grace, letting her golden hair tumble down around her shoulders. The effect was immediate. Bystanders froze. Guards blinked. Tourists fumbled with their phones. Her presence washed over them like a wave of sunlight and syrup—sickeningly sweet and too intoxicating to question.
"Hello everyone!" Kara said, waving with one hand while the other rested casually on her hip. Her voice carried effortlessly, like a song in a silent cathedral. "Would anyone like a photo?"
A sea of hands raised their devices. Kara struck a pose—one foot forward, slight tilt of the head, playful pout, and a twist of her torso that made her tank top catch the light just right. Gasps echoed across the plaza. Someone dropped their water bottle.
Behind her, the ground shivered. A jagged, spiraling vortex of scarlet magic opened silently into the air, a Chaos Gate swirling with screaming particles of red light. From its core emerged armored juggernauts in shadow-black stealth suits, their boots silenced with enchantments. They fanned out like ghosts, heading directly toward the base of the energy pylon.
Kara lifted one arm, hand to her cheek, and turned her hips slightly. Another pose. Behind her, the juggernauts deployed enchanted clamps, hex-welders, and reinforced anti-grav rails. The energy pylon groaned softly as it was detached from the platform that anchored it to Wakanda's power grid.
Crackling cords sparked as the base was severed. One juggernaut pulled out a signal blocker, jamming communications within a hundred-foot radius. Still, no one noticed. Kara had begun to spin slowly, twirling once as if in mid-catwalk, her every movement choreographed to weaponized perfection.
"One more shot," she said over her shoulder. The crowd laughed nervously. Someone whispered she must be a visiting goddess. Phones clicked. Shutters snapped. Video feeds streamed to social networks across Wakanda—until they didn't.
As the pylon slid through the Chaos Gate behind her with a gentle hum, every phone flashed. Not with light, but with a single, glowing red insignia: Kara's twisted version of the Supergirl symbol, jagged and serpentine, pulsing once like a heartbeat.
The phones began to overheat. Screens dimmed. Error codes flickered. Then the devices erupted one by one—not into flames, but into short-circuiting puffs of static and smoke. People screamed and dropped them. Sparks jumped from their palms.
"My phone!"
"The pictures!"
"That woman... she was... she was..."
Kara placed her sun hat gently back atop her head, drawing the brim low to shade her face. Her glow diminished just enough to let people breathe again. She offered a polite nod.
"Thank you for the lovely photo op, everyone," she said, her tone measured and clear. "Farewell."
As she strolled away, the crowd parted without a word. No one chased. No one followed. In the aftermath of the fried phones, confusion settled like a fog. No evidence remained. No pictures. No names.
In the shadows nearby, her loyal harem agents—cloaked in illusion, unseen—had already completed the final sweep. Every phone that had captured Kara's image had been hacked, drained of data, and destroyed in a burst of chaos-laced malware. Jealousy, after all, was an efficient defense mechanism.
Meanwhile, the stolen pylon was already in the Empire of London, where evil scientists and reverse-engineers awaited its secrets with glee. It would soon become the centerpiece of Kara's new orbital camouflage grid.
Kara walked into the shade of a fruit stall and paused beneath the awning, watching a young boy stare in awe from behind a basket of mangoes. She offered him a wink, then tapped her chin thoughtfully.
"Slap, grab, and run was good," she whispered to herself, smiling faintly. "But sometimes... you just pose, pylon, and vanish."
And with that, she turned the corner and disappeared into the market, another piece of Wakanda's future now firmly in her pocket.
