First, could they actually profit from such a transfer fee? Absolutely!
Second, Maldini's age. Thirty million pounds for a player who was already thirty years old was an impressive amount of money for any club, especially during this period. From a purely financial perspective, it was the kind of offer that demanded serious consideration.
Galliani, however, wasn't thinking about the money. Beads of sweat had already begun forming on his forehead.
