Chapter 58 - Morwen

"Okay then Astropath Morwen, thank you for coming in" Bastion said as soon as he had properly filed the document.

"It is an honor, your eminence" Morwen replied

"I'll send all the instructions related to your new role soon, however for now, you can focus on what you already do" Bastion said as he stood up and offered the man a handshake.

He couldn't remember where such a gesture came from, but he knew that it was a gesture of agreement and made the other party feel as though they were equal to him. At the moment, he needed the Astropath to think of himself as such as it would mean he would be able to do his job well.

"My lord?" Morwen asked sceptically as his already shrunken figure shrunk even further but Bastion simply gestured more as the astropath took his hand.

"I hope that this signifies the beginning of a new era for the both of us" Bastion said as he gently reinforced his grip on the man's hand

"Thank you, my lord" Morwen said with a wide smile on his face

Bastion could see his figure grow a bit taller as some sense of pride or confidence whichever one wanted to call it entered him. The man didn't look like the fanatic he had invited into his office, rather he now had the figure of someone who was the Chief astropath of a prestigious institution like the Adeptus Telepathica on his side.

After the man left. He was immediately replaced by a new guest. His goal for now was to reform the bureaucracy of the planet, he had thought long and hard about it but still couldn't understand why none of them were specialized

They had specialized institutions but administratively, there was no such thing. The Adminstratum performed on the basis of 'meet whoever is free', it had specialized departments but that was only in name. Effectively, it was a miracle that the planet and even the Imperium at large was still functional

Knock knock

A knock was heard on the door of the Study, forcing Bastion to finally raise his head from his work. He had sorted out and fully established the Magistries to the best of his abilities.

"Come in" he said as the door soon swung open as Elara stepped in.

The lady was still his personal attendant and that he thought about it, her position was one that he highly underused… If it wasn't then he wouldn't be in such a situation to begin with.

She was in all essence his chief of staff… He didn't know where that term came from but it seemed to fit her position well enough. She was the head of all staff members within the palace as his personal servant.

"Your Eminence, lady Selene is here to see you" she said with a bow

"Tell her to come in and join her as well" Bastion said as a sudden idea suddenly came to mind.

If he really wanted to change this world then a change in mentality is needed and if things worked out as well as he hoped it would then it would also contribute to a vision of a post ration world.

"As you wish, your grace" she said as she left

A few minutes later, she came back into the study with Selene who now seemed to be adapting to her role. Unlike before she was dressed in some military style suit, the Luthor house crest flashing proudly on her beret and uniform.

"Miss Selene?" Bastion said as he gestured to a seat

"Your Grace" She replied as she bowed before complying and taking a seat

"You too, take a seat" Bastion said as he gestured to the other seat while looking at Elara

"Your Grace?" Elara asked confused and surprised

"Sit" Bastion said but this time in a more formal voice… This was the type of thing he had been facing for the past few hours.

Without hesitation, the young lady immediately sat down. Looking at her now. Bastion couldn't sense the same fear in her anymore. Her heartbeat was normal, elevated yes but not erratic like it would have been if she feared him.

"To bring forth a new generation of prosperity upon Mordaxis, I would be needing help from the both of you… Selene as my Grand Chancellor and you Elara as my Steward, you shall manage the Luthor Household on my behalf from hence forth" Bastion said resolutely

"Your Grace?..." they both said almost at once as they stood up

Bastion however just remained quiet as he stared at them, now that he thought about it, he never once informed Selene of the role he would be playing for him.

He always thought of her as his head of government but never actually informed her of her new role, so her reaction seemed understandable.
