Before all of this began, I never believed that a secret society governed all of the world, hidden behind a veil of secrecy and maneuvering everything and everyone as if they were puppets.
But now? Now I know.
A second before I looked at Natasha right in the eyes, the other one, I found myself under the streets of Rome, miles below the surface, looking at what I can only describe as one of the best-looking cities I have ever seen in my life, a combination of several styles melded into one, created the best structures human hands have ever created.
And there is a good reason why such a structure could ever be built, because the ones behind it are the true grandmasters of their own arts.
Painting, engineering, mathematics, physics, you name it, in this immortal city, every grandmaster has lived, and some still live in it.
" Think it's time you reveal yourself."
For a second, no one appeared, but it did, the glowing being shaped to the semblance of a human; he didn't emanate power like the Yao or any of the Gods, but his mere presence shouted knowledge and intelligence beyond mortal realms, a level that I might not even have reached, not for long at least.
" Michelangelo, if I am correct."
" You would be Adrian. It is quite a surprise to see you here, and I exist in all of time."
" Your group taunted me into taking action."
" You don't understand, you are not supposed to be here, your existence doesn't exist in the future or the past, you live in the right now, in the future I perceive, you are not the one who destroyed the brotherhood, and in the past I lived, there is no trace of you ever existing."
' So that is the reason why Yao can't see my future, because I exist outside it.'
" That is not my problem; what matters is stopping him. He sees me as a threat? I will show him how much of a threat I can be."
Michelangelo had no time to answer, as all the structures once present in the immortal city, in all their beauty, disappeared, gone, the ground reclaiming the materials humans had used to build them.
I descended to the ground, my hands moving so that the few people who nearly died just got incapacitated. I don't need to kill everyone, just some of them.
The air warned me of an incoming attack of a magnitude that would destroy all of Italy if it landed. I just waved my hand towards the laser that was millimeters away from landing.
'Not this time.'
A portal opened and swallowed the laser, redirecting it towards another dimension where no life was present.
It lasted for over a minute; the heat it created melted anything near it, but no serious damage was dealt to anyone.
As soon as it stopped, I had already appeared behind the one who had launched the attack, and there, standing in all its glory, stood one of the greatest, if not the greatest, physicists in history, Isaac Newton, someone supposed to be dead, had just shot a laser made of an energy even I was not aware of, to try and stop me from destroying this place.
" You."
I wanted to end this, but I felt his connection with mana to be just a level below Yao's, and to prove such a statement, a portal opened to my side, and a tsunami made of fire and lava tried to melt my body.
" You think you can be the only mage here? I will let you know I was Sorcer Supreme once, before I discovered the truth."
As the portal closed, no visible scratch was present on my body; my connection to fire and earth directly caused it to skim over my body without leaving any damage behind.
His next trick was to try to summon both demonic and alien liferoms to try to kill me; my connection to nature made them see me as their own father. Let me tell you, an Imp's fur is softer than it looks.
His last try was the one that had the most effect; his knowledge of physics made his gravity and spatial magic his strongest area, so when he made a black hole right in front of me, I felt my body getting destroyed as all forms of matter, physical and spiritual, were getting absorbed by it.
'I guess it's time to play seriously.'
" Dominion of Mana."
Isaac's flying body crushed to the ground, the black hole disappeared, and his body started aging rapidly as his connection to the magical substance that had made him immortal was severed.
" Why? Why is someone like you even trying to stop me? Can't you see? Why even let a world like this exist? Everything will end regardless of what you do."
His skeletal hands moved to grab a piece of paper, on which were symbols and numbers, written in a language that didn't exist, something he had made himself, but my brain understood, it saw, and it calculated.

'2060.' All minds said at the same time, it was starting to become cluttered, so I forced most of them into a meditative state, and left only about a thousand on.
" You made a mistake."
"... What?"
" You didn't take into account my existence."
He didn't have time to speak, his body turning into dust as time itself took what it was rightfully his.
' Perfect, time to loot this city, and save a child from going mad.'
