Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4: THE FALL

How can something beautiful be against the Creator's laws? Mr X pondered. Why did he get thoughtful? The answer was obvious. The teachings they received from The Creator was that; anything was considered beautiful only if that thing (idea, action, living thing) respected the law. But Mr X knew that what he did with Lady Y didn't follow the law. But still, he enjoyed the act. Such a pleasure should be considered beautiful, he told himself. The biome had expanded and developed greatly. The inhabitants were healthy and brimmed not only energetically but also intellectually and ethereally. They had enough resources to accommodate a new generation. Hence came the period of having offsprings. And hence the numbers of humans began growing.

When the human population attained a certain figure, they embarked on another level of evolution. The first generation began a transfer of knowledge to the second generation. And with that came a boom in the speed of growth. From hunting technologies to farming and communication; they all evolved. The second generation was full of inspiration and had a keen sense of optimization; ameliorating what had been done by the first generation. And as time would tell, each biome was also growing and implementing a unique technology.

With all that growth, something had not changed; Mr X's pondering. As other families had a growth in mentality and social aspects, Mr X didn't evolve. Instead, he felt disconnected. He felt like he didn't belong. But that didn't prevent him from fulfilling his duties as a citizen of the biome. One day after his daily activity, he decided to divert from his usual routine. He decided to roam in the thick vegetation of the biome. With no specific destination in mind, he toured the forest. After a redundant tour, he heard a certain voice calling to him. He began tracing the voice. With each step the voice died down. He hastened his steps in order not to lose a little decibel of that voice. With all the searching, he ended up losing track of the voice. And when he regained his focus, he was at that fateful spot. Yes, the spot where he discovered that breaking the law could be beautiful. He walked around that area reminiscing what he felt. The warmth, the mixture of pleasure and pain, the joy of the forbidden. And as he reminisced, he decided to take a dip in the water. The water temperature froze all his thoughts as he slowly sank. All he had as company was his heart racing as he journeyed down memory lane. When he had had enough of his candy memory, he decided to rise to the surface. And as his face reached the surface, she was standing at the banks of the pool.

Action1, his eyes toured the area; checking if his clothes were at the position he left them. Action2, he hastily left the water pond and dove towards his clothes. Action3, he rapidly put on his clothes. Action4… There wasn't action4. Lady Y held him as he was trying to leave.

"You were just going to ignore me?" She questioned.

"Of course. I wouldn't want any other thing to happen." Mr X responded.

"Any other like what?" She released her grip, circling round him and stopping to face him.

"Stop joking around. I know you still remember. But it seems like it didn't affect you in anyway." Mr X answered, stepping her aside and began moving towards his home.

"Stop being cryptic and face what has to be faced." Lady Y poured, following directly behind him.

"Me being cryptic?" Mr X raged, dragging her back deep into the forest.

"Yes, you are. You think I haven't been observing you? You might be physically fit but there is so many lacking. You are existing but not living. You are stuck. All the families of the biome have grown but yours is the only one at the same point." Lady Y poured.

"And who is at fault? Who do you think is the cause of my stagnation?" Mr X raged.

"If you are not the author, then who is?" Lady Y answered pushing him away.

"It is you. It is all your fault." Mr X vomited. "Since that day I have been blocked on what is ok or not. My energy was polluted by yours and I can't muster sufficient energy to bring in a new generation with my partner. We have tried but nothing. And I know I am the one at fault. I have lost that connection. And with that everything went out of control. You have been observing me, right? You then definitely know what I am saying."

"Then rebuild that connection."

"You think I haven't tried?"

"Maybe you have, but it's definitely not enough." Lady Y shot.

"I see. So, you were capable of doing more than enough… Of course, you were. That doesn't surprise me." Mr X answered retreating away from Lady Y. Of course, Lady Y could. Mr X could say that because she was that woman who did several activities out of her domain of activities.

"I know you think you broke the law and that affects you. But you didn't." Lady Y spoke.

"We did. WE DID! The creator's beauty, we broke that. We didn't follow his laws."

"He didn't forbid us form interacting with someone else's partner." Lady Y hammered.

"He explicitly circumscribed each of our actions. Defined the boundaries. And what we did was out of those boundaries." Mr X answered, realising a certain truth. Lady Y had done actions out of her domain. As a female she didn't have to do such. That wasn't the role designed for her. But still, she did it and did it very well. It means may be Lady Y was right. May be what they did wasn't that bad after all. If one could think right, may be the partners they were all assigned weren't meant to be their partners after all. So many assumptions flooded his mind. All those assumptions were unified by Lady Y's words. And Mr X who was trying to get back to his house, abruptly stopped and turned to face Lady Y. He had suddenly found all his answers. He had seen truth through her eyes. He walked towards her and enlaced her.

"Can you tell me what's happening?" Lady Y wondered

"I have come to see clear. And you made me see that." Mr X smiled, with his eyes becoming teary.

"Let's thank the creator for His divine assistance." Lady Y answered. And they both marched towards their respective niches.

Had Lady Y foreseen the upcoming atrocities that befell their community, she wouldn't have advised Mr X. She would have let him miserable in his bubble. For, if Mr X had remained miserable, certainly her partner wouldn't be dead. Mr X had killed him and was forcefully on top of her. How did it turn out like this? Lady Y pondered. But the answer was pretty straight forward. After their little exchange in the forest, Mr X came back transformed. He came back with a new understanding. With the change he performed his night duties with his wife and it felt different. And as moons went by, he had his offspring. He was so overjoyed. He was certain that the creator agreed with his way of thinking. He began living. He also embraced his zeal to have Lady Y as his second partner. That wasn't bad for he had a special bond with Lady Y just as he had a special bond with his current partner. He didn't keep such a thought in his mind. He proposed it to Lady Y but she rejected. Mr X thought of a way to make Lady Y his. He just had to make sure Lady Y had only one partner: which is him. And so, one day he entered in Lady Y's home and struck her partner down. And now that Lady Y was without partner, he could have her for himself.

Lady Y, upon seeing that, tearfully screamed. Her distressful cry made most men of the biome rapidly gather in front of her house. They rushed in and discovered the bloody visuals. They didn't care about what Mr X was trying to do to Lady Y. What caught their attention was the lifeless body of a man, laying on the floor. They had never conceived such a picture. Why so? Because they were strictly forbidden from killing humans. Even killing animals was purposeful: and not a selfish one. Mr X was immediately pulled out and dragged to the council house for prosecution.

"The CREATOR told us death was to be natural." A voice echoed in the room

"Yes." A group of voices answered disorderedly

"Indeed" another voice added

"Our bodies have a time limit. And when the time expires, the CREATOR calls us back to HIM." One added.

"And the only one having the right to take life before the expiry date is the CREATOR."

"Hence, what has been done today is an abomination. We were giving rights over everything but not the right to kill our own kind."

"Means you can't kill me." Mr X voiced and the room grew silent.

"But we can banish you. Strip you naked. Throw you out of the biome. You will lack sustenance. You will be in the wild, in the hands of the wild animals. It doesn't take long for our bodies to wither when not sustained. Your death will be natural." Said the Proxy.

"You wouldn't do that." Mr X crackled

"It has already been said. It shall certainly be executed. I think I speak for the whole community when I say that." The Proxy added and the whole council room nodded.

And it was executed immediately and publicly. The whole biome watched as Mr X was stripped naked and thrown out into the wild.

"This is an example for anyone who tries to tarnish the beauty of our biome. Follow the rules. They are not selfish. They are not difficult. And they are not certainly harmful. They guarantee us long-term prosperity and a steady evolution. Let's not jeopardise that with our selfish decisions. Instead let us always put the biome first before everything." The Proxy voiced.

We shall skip all the hurdles surrounding Mr X's life in the wild; that piece of knowledge shall be revealed to us in time. But we shall retain only this, He survived. History remembers him surviving in the wild. History also remembers he didn't survive alone. Yes, Lady Y felt guilty for what had happened to him and decided to leave the biome in search of him. And when she found him, she nursed him back little by little to a respectable state. Time remembers the wandering of the couple in the vastness of the earth in search of sustenance. The soil remembers their every footprint, their sweat and their blood. The water bodies remember their every drink and bath the took to stay refreshed. The sun remembers their every burn and gaze as they hopelessly wandered. The skies remember the VOICE that saved them. Mr X, on a fateful day woke up to a voice ordering him to go to a location that shall procure him salvation.

"It said that we shall be saved if we go there."

"And where is that place?" Lady Y skeptically asked.

"I don't know."

"And how come you know the direction to an unknown place." Lady Y asked

"I don't know."

"Now this is wholesome." Lady Y laughed

"Why are you laughing?" Mr X wondered

"I don't know."

"Are you laughing at me?"

"I don't know. May be yes."

"Well, I deserve the laughter. But I think we should aim for that place before our provisions finish." Mr X begged

"Hearing an unknown voice, guiding us to a place we don't know but yet promising us salvation. Does any of this make sense?" Lady Y wondered. It didn't make sense immediately but it would make sense later. There was a piece of information that the general first humans didn't know and that was how proxies came to be. All biomes had a proxy. It was a human above all humans; mentally, spiritually, physically. Major evolutionary changes, decisions and growth in the biome were orchestrated by them. And they all said the same thing; "I heard a voice. It told me to go to a certain location."

Mr X marched towards the location. He didn't hunger anymore nor did he tire. He rested just because of Lady Y. All the provisions were consumed by her as they embarked towards the place only the earth knew. After several days of marching, they reached the promised location. It was an almost barren land. Dead trees at every eye throw. No sunlight only at a particular spot. At that spot there was a healthy tree that seem to thrive despite that lack of nutrients from the land.

"Cut open the tree" Mr X heard. He took a knife from Lady Y and pierced through the trunk of the tree. A golden liquid gently oozed out of the tree.

"Drink." He heard again. And he knelt down. Cupped his hands and let a bountiful quantity of the golden liquid settle in his hands. And he drank the liquid. As the last drop of the liquid went down his throat, the tree dried and withered to ash. The whole area where they stood withered to ash and faded away, giving way to a starry sky in broad day light and a mirage of several stair cases leading up to the sky with creatures climbing and descending the stairs. That scenery was sure very brief but marked a turning point in the life of our couple.

"Do you now believe?" Mr X asked his partner as he fell into unconsciousness.

"I can't refute anymore." Lady Y answered, holding and laying him gently on the floor.

When he came back to himself everything looked different. His eyes saw everything in strings. The sky above him, the clouds, the floor he lay on. They were all woven in strings. He looked at his hands and it was all the same.

"hey" Lady Y tapped his back. "You are finally awake"

"Finally…" Mr X tiresomely responded. "What have I missed."

"Nothing much. It's been 5 moons that you have been out of commission." Lady Y answered

"Five? And we survived?"

"Strangely yes. During all those days I wasn't hungry. And you too didn't show any signs of needing nourishment."

"Strange…" Mr X responded, looking at all the strings that entered into Lady Y. She was been constantly nourished by the immediate environment. Same thing for him. He saw strings leaving from the ground and entering him. He concluded that he was receiving help from the biome. But he had to make sure of it. He stood up and went for a walk. He began Looking for the highest point of the domain. He found a tree and climbed to its top. He noticed a point where he couldn't distinguish the strings clearly. He rushed towards it and when he crossed that point, he felt a little weaker. The strings were no more colourful and the seemed to draw energy out of him. That showed it was the limit of his domain (or maybe it meant something else, but Mr X didn't bother to think more than that). He marked that point and rushed back to Lady Y. He felt very light, energized and a complete mastery of his surroundings. He had to build up his biome. He was strong but he was alone, he couldn't build everything alone. He needed a minimum population to do that. Hence, he set out for several other biomes. He knew the way towards all the biomes just by following the strings. But to each biome he went, he was chased. He was inherently undesired and he knew why. Observing he world in strings made him understand so many things. When he looked at the individuals in a biome, their strings mingled, sometimes fused but most of the time seemed to blend and complete each other. But as he entered a biome, the strings will move away from his. The biome didn't accept him and subsequently the inhabitants of the biome. The proxies of the biome saw him as a pathogen and didn't leave him a second in their biome. Since he was being rejected, he decided to force his way. He went back to the biome that chased him. His several attempts had showed him that he could actively poison the strings of others, making them come to obey him. But doing that made him to be their source of energy when they have not eaten. So, he stormed his biome of origin with a horde of wild animals, corrupting everyone he saw. He didn't spare his family too. He went on to corrupt the proxy of the biome. When the proxy was corrupted, he felt the biome couldn't last: the strings of the biome were rapidly fading. When he landed back in his biome, Lady couldn't believe her eyes. She knew all those faces and couldn't understand how they followed him. Immediately they arrived Mr X all put them to work. For the animals he dispersed them around his area to constitute the fauna of his area. Lady Y inquired of all this success but Mr X brushed her off, saying he was very convincing. All the technology he stole was recreated in his biome and evolved. Mr X despite corrupting them didn't remove their free will. He just made them less bent to blindly follow the creator's laws. He made them question everything. He made them seek personal happiness. This gave birth to a diversified biome with so many thoughts, and many technologies. Mr X felt the creator was with him for his biome was progressing and growing rapidly. But he didn't see that the other biomes won't accept his actions. The instant he corrupted that proxy, all the other proxies were alerted of the incumbent disorder that had reason. They automatically began thinking on a way to eliminate such a power as they feared they might be subject to that. They started thinking of weapons to flawlessly eliminate such a presence. And when they had agreed on the different varieties of weapons they began building. Mr X wasn't stupid enough to think all would go smoothly. He held several council meetings with the government he had put in place. All the meetings were on protective measures to be implemented for the lasting of the biome. Each participant proposed ideas and rushed to implement them. And the day he feared came to past. All the biomes of the globe actively stormed his biome. The clash lasted three full moons. Mr X was completely destroyed. But he had made up a trump card. One that will activate when he shall be killed. If he came to die; the essence of his power will split in seven parts and corrupt some proxies. These proxies were to slowly be corrupted by that power and begin to think like him. And when he died, his power poured out of his body in the form of seven thin strings. Six strands got attached to the proxies and one got attached to Lady Y. The six other proxies began their own uprising, fighting against each other and against the non-corrupted proxies. This created a global war that touched all the corners of the earth. And as the war progressed, Lady Y hid somewhere not knowing what to do. She didn't know how to react with this sudden power that was boiling in her. This condensed desire to belong, to know, to exist, to live, to avoid death. All of that was swirling in all the fibres of her skin. In order to reduce part of that desire, she sought how to avoid death. If she could avoid death, she would be able to fine a place to belong, live and exist. And in amidst all the confusion that stormed the earth she began digging means to cheat death. What mankind didn't know, was that the CREATOR woke up to discover the disorder. He called out to them but none heard his call. He kept on calling and calling but he didn't get any response from them. He was filled with such a tremendous deception. And with that deception, came tears. The CREATOR wept and his tears condensed into massive celestial bodies that stormed the earth and destroyed most of what he had created. That phenomenon of the raining of celestial bodies shall come to be known as THE FALL.
