Although Dark had never seen the skill "Weaponize" among Pokémon.
But among the cards of Yu-Gi-Oh, there were quite a few cards similar to its literal effect.
In Yu-Gi-Oh, there was a type called "Union Monster" that could transform into an "Equip Card" and be equipped onto a monster.
The moment Dark saw the name of this Ultimate Move, he immediately thought of a similar effect.
He set aside the other three Ultimate Moves for now and once again channeled mana into it, obtaining further information about the "Weaponize" Ultimate Move.
[Weaponize: Honedge can transform into a weapon form, and the type of the Magic Guide Card will change accordingly.]
"It can even change the type of the Magic Guide Card?"
Dark's mind had always been rather divergent.
He almost instantly grasped the crux of the matter.
"Does this mean that after using 'Weaponize,' I can directly summon 'Honedge' as an Equip Card?"
"Ignoring its second-tier summoning restriction, with no need for Sacrificial Summoning, but merely performing a Special Summon as an Equip Card?"
"That's just going too far…"
"But if it can really be done…"
Dark couldn't help swallowing, then began the summoning without being able to restrain himself!
Using Normal Summoning, summoning a four-star "Honedge" required at least over a minute.
But Dark frequently used Normal Summoning in the dormitory to summon "Sylveon," "Gatomon," and "Miltank," so he had become quite proficient.
After a little over a minute, the summoning succeeded.
The "Holy Sword" version of "Honedge" materialized under the gazes of Dark and his Magic Guide Spirits.
It floated in the air, and the single eye at the center of its sword guard slowly opened, intertwining its gaze with Dark's.
Without overthinking, Dark immediately used a "[Greed II]" to awaken its sentience.
Under the light-purple glow, the emblem of "Greed" emerged upon Honedge's sword guard, and the eye at the very center of the emblem clearly revealed a hue of avarice.
But Dark merely smiled and commanded: "Honedge, use 'Weaponize.'"
Under its master's compulsory command, Honedge's single eye instantly closed, and the long, slender ribbon at the end of its hilt, like an arm, immediately retracted into the hilt, leaving only a small tip that linked into a ring buckle.
Just like that "Holy Sword"!
Dark reached out slightly and grasped this weaponized "Honedge" in his hand.
It felt extremely light in his hand—clearly, although "Honedge" had been weaponized, it still retained its floating property.
Dark swung the sword a few times, then couldn't wait to recall it into the Magic Guide Card.
Then he picked up the Magic Guide Card to examine it.
[Card Name: Honedge (Weapon Form)]
[Type: Item Card]
[Effect ①: Grants the user an attack bonus of "Star Level × 300."]
[Effect ②: Adds the passive "Holy."]
[Effect ③: Adds the passive "Holy Sword."]
[Effect ④: Adds the Ultimate Move "Continuous Slash."]
[Effect ⑤: Adds the Ultimate Move "Sword Dance."]
[Effect ⑥: Adds the Ultimate Move "Spiritualize."]
"It actually turned into an Equip Card among the Item Cards!"
Dark felt a surge of delight and immediately tried to summon it using Normal Summoning.
But immediately after, a tremendous suction force suddenly came from within that Magic Guide Card.
Dark furrowed his brow and actively poured in mana.
Only after consuming a large amount of mana was "Honedge (Weapon Form)" summoned.
Dark grasped it again, channeled mana, and used the Ultimate Move "Spiritualize."
This "Honedge (Weapon Form)" immediately transformed into "Honedge (Spirit Form)."
"Although it consumes a bit more mana, it really only takes three seconds to summon a four-star Honedge!"
After confirming this matter, Dark finally settled down to continue examining Honedge's other three Ultimate Moves.
To be honest, these three Ultimate Moves gave him a poor first impression.
Magic Guide Spirits gain a power bonus when using Ultimate Moves of their own type.
But among Honedge's four Ultimate Moves in total—
"Weaponize" is non-attribute.
"Continuous Slash" is an Insect-type Ultimate Move.
"Sword Dance" and "Holy Sword" are both Fighting-type Ultimate Moves.
In other words, not a single one is Steel-type or Ghost-type, so there's no same-type bonus.
This was truly very unfriendly for boosting a Magic Guide Spirit's combat power.
But things had come to this; the only hope now was that "Honedge" could obtain a same-type Ultimate Move after evolving.
Dark examined them carefully.
[Continuous Slash: Consecutive slashes. If the first Continuous Slash successfully hits the opponent, then the next attack's attack power increases by 50% of base attack, up to a triple slash; if interrupted midway, it resets.]
[Sword Dance: Fiercely leaps into a war dance to raise momentum, greatly boosting one's own attack! The higher the momentum, the greater the attack-boosting coefficient. Minimum increase of 50% of base attack, maximum increase of 100% of base attack.]
[Holy Sword: A holy blade; on top of the original attribute's effectiveness, effectiveness against the Demon race increases by 100%, effectiveness against the Dark attribute increases by 50%, and there is an additional lethal effect against the Demon race; when attacking, it ignores the opponent's stat changes, always hits, and has a small chance to ignore defense and attack directly.]
"The skill effect of [Ultimate Move: Holy Sword] completely inherits the passive properties of that Holy Sword. It's just changed from a passive into an actively cast Ultimate Move. And the power of the 'Holy Sword' Ultimate Move is decent enough—it's just that without a same-type bonus, it'll seem a bit weak."
"By comparison, the combination of 'Continuous Slash' and 'Sword Dance' can be called a divine technique."
"Starting with 'Sword Dance,' then unleashing 'Continuous Slash' after momentum is raised to the limit—if the triple slash successfully lands, the attack can be boosted up to three times!"
"For 'Honedge,' whose attack power is as high as 2200, once it begins to dance, it becomes unstoppable!"
"For this type of Ultimate Move, whether or not there's a same-type bonus doesn't matter much."
"If the effect of 'Holy Sword' could be added, three techniques merged into one—that would be the true Holy Sword."
"6,600 in a single strike—let me teach you how to be a grown-up!"
Dark suddenly understood.
Then he had "Honedge" weaponize, and studied its effects more deeply.
"Honedge (Weapon Form)" had many equip effects.
Effect ① was obvious.
Effects ② and ③ were both additional properties that the Holy Sword originally possessed.
Effects ④ and ⑤ granted the user the two buff skills "Continuous Slash" and "Sword Dance."
But as a weapon, the base attack boosted by these two Ultimate Moves should be ("the user's base attack power" × 300% + weapon bonus).
Suppose the one wielding this weapon were "Gatomon"…
"Gatomon's" "Holy Ring" is very special; the stat bonus it adds is also counted as part of "Gatomon's" base stats.
Therefore, if "Gatomon" wielded "Honedge" and used "Sword Dance" + "Triple Slash," the maximum attack could reach (2400 × 300% + 1200 = 8400)!
"8400 in a single strike!"
"Although still inferior to Miltank, it's already extremely terrifying."
"And the stronger the wielder's stats, the stronger the attainable attack becomes."
"Hiss… So this is the Magic Guide Spirit transmuted from the 'Holy Sword'?"
"It's probably even more fearsome than an ordinary 'Holy Sword.'"
"I just wonder whether there's still a 'Hero-exclusive' restriction?"
Dark lifted Honedge and gave it a shake, saying: "Who wants to give it a try?"
"Meow."
Gatomon perked up and immediately raised its hand.
From the moment it saw Honedge transform from a Magic Guide Spirit into a weapon, it realized that its "Holy Sword" had returned.
Now that the sword needed testing, the role naturally belonged to no one but it.
"Meowww!"
However, another meow suddenly came from behind it.
Meowth, who had likewise been waiting for an opportunity, suddenly darted over.
But when it reached Dark, it abruptly slammed to a stop, forcibly squeezed in beside Gatomon, and raised its hand with an obedient look.
Looking at the two cats, one white and one gray, Dark thought for a moment, but handed "Honedge (Weapon Form)" into Meowth's hand.
"Meow meow meow!"
Meowth fiercely grabbed the hilt and instantly burst into wild laughter.
Within this Honedge there was still its precious bead—although Honedge had no shield before evolving, surely a part of it still belonged to it, no?
After glancing at Gatomon beside it, Meowth grabbed Honedge's scabbard and pulled hard.
"Clang!"
The long sword left its sheath!
...
Meanwhile, Dark took out "Meowth's" Magic Guide Card and examined it carefully.
"Attack power… increased by 900 points!"
"Meowth, of course, couldn't possibly have Hero aptitude—does this mean that Honedge's weapon form no longer has the Hero-exclusive restriction?"
Dark pondered briefly, then said: "Meowth, try using an Ultimate Move."
Meowth looked up, puzzled: "Meow?"
Dark said: "Channel mana and you'll be able to sense it—you should have learned this already, right?"
Meowth immediately puffed out its chest and channeled a wisp of mana into Honedge.
With the "Technician" talent, it was very quick at learning this kind of little trick.
While playing with the "Shelgon Orb," it had already learned to transmit mana.
This was actually not difficult.
Once the other Magic Guide Spirits had their own armaments, they should be able to learn it quickly too.
...
After Meowth channeled mana into Honedge, it indeed received feedback of information.
A trace of excitement appeared on its face; it gripped firmly with both hands, lifted Honedge, then turned to face an empty spot in the dormitory and let out a great shout: "Meow!"
As the meow rose, its momentum surged sharply, and it stepped forward with a cat-step.
Accompanying a slight twirl of its steps, wind blew out from beneath its feet, in an instant turning into a cyclone that wrapped around its entire body, then abruptly converging onto the blade!
"Meow!"
Meowth let out another violent shout, and the air-current-wrapped Honedge, following its swing, slashed forward twice in succession!
"Ding! Ding!"
By the second slash, its attack power had risen to its peak.
It had strikingly already reached (1500 × 200% + 3 × 300 = 3900) points!
But after striking out such a powerful blow, Meowth's little face instantly fell!
...
"Looks like it's a watered-down version."
Dark learned from the Magic Guide Card the attack ceiling Meowth had spiked to in that instant, and immediately understood.
He mulled it over a little, then said: "Meowth, give the sword to Gatomon."
Meowth, with its sulking cat face, very reluctantly sheathed the sword and tossed it to Gatomon.
Gatomon, who had been standing there dazed, instantly showed a hint of delight; with just one step forward, it steadily caught Honedge.
Then it drew the sword, channeling mana along with the motion, and the blade—drawn out only halfway—suddenly lit up with a holy white light!
Drifloon, floating above Dark's head, was illuminated by that holy light and immediately shrieked and fled into the shadows behind the counter.
Once Honedge was in Gatomon's hands, its entire aura became completely different.
As if only now was it the true "Holy Sword"!
Yes...
This Honedge was clearly still a "Holy Sword"!
Only Gatomon, who possessed Hero aptitude, could fully bring out its power.
After drawing the sword, Gatomon quietly waited for the cooldowns of "Continuous Slash" and "Sword Dance."
The cooldowns of these two Ultimate Moves were both quite long—probably they could only be used once in a single duel.
...
"So be it."
Dark shook his head with some regret.
In any case, this Magic Guide transmutation was a success.
The "Holy Sword," which originally only Gatomon could use, could now be used by any Magic Guide Spirit with hands.
Although it couldn't bring out the passive properties of "Holy" and "Holy Sword," and "Continuous Slash" and "Sword Dance" could only achieve their minimum effects, it was actually already far from weak.
Moreover, under normal circumstances, one could perfectly well let "Honedge" move on its own.
Because in Spirit Form, it could of course use any Ultimate Move normally.
Dark only needed to hold the hilt rather than wield the sword himself to cosplay as a Hero.
Of course, he had no interest in cosplaying as a Hero.
...
Afterward...
While recording data, Dark waited for Honedge's Ultimate Move cooldowns to recover so he could observe Gatomon test the sword again.
Gatomon's "Sword Dance" was clearly more splendid than Meowth's, and the momentum it erupted was on a completely different level—bringing "Sword Dance" to its utter limit.
The "Triple Slash" it unleashed under Honedge's guidance was also very smooth, slashing out three blows like lightning.
The final blow was especially astonishing in momentum, leaving a terrifying sword mark on the wall!
Gatomon glanced back over its shoulder, and there was actually a sliver of awe-inspiring sword intent!
"This is…"
Dark couldn't help narrowing his eyes.
On Gatomon, he faintly sensed a trace of Alvit's flavor.
This made him subconsciously ask: "Gatomon, do you want to learn the sword?"
Gatomon: "Meow?"
...
The matter of teaching Gatomon to use the sword would have to wait until after the holidays.
Dark turned "Honedge" back into Spirit Form and continued experimenting.
Although "Honedge" was already a second-tier four-star Magic Guide Spirit, it was actually still a baby that could evolve twice more.
Using a "[Major Sin III]" might allow it to evolve again.
So Dark tried out "[Pride III]" and "[Lust III]" one by one.
The result was not surprising.
"It really doesn't work, huh?"
"It seems transmuting a '[Greed III]' is now imperative."
