Chapter 367 - Dark Demon's Mad Justice

The Basic Transmutation Method was inherently a transmutation method with enormous randomness.

Even if one used the choice of materials to confine the range to a theoretically tiny scope, that didn't mean accidents wouldn't occur.

If everything went exactly as wished every single time, then wouldn't magic guide transmutation be far too easy?

Although Dark couldn't suppress his disappointment that this transmutation hadn't struck the target directly, he wasn't surprised.

He had self-awareness.

In the transmutation of Magic Guide Spirits, his success rate was already unbelievably high.

This kind of miraculous luck was something others could only dream of.

What's more, every Magic Guide Spirit Card he transmuted was of extremely high quality!

The [Magic Guide Spirit Card] he transmuted this time was likewise of no low quality.

...

[Card Name: Leomon]

[Type: Spirit Card]

[Level: ?????]

[Species: Animal species]

[Attribute: Fighting-type]

[Magic: 2300]

[Attack: 2300]

[Defense: 2300]

[Ultimate Move: Beast King Fist, Shishiōmaru, Heart of Justice]

...

"A five-star Magic Guide Spirit—Leomon."

"The Magic Guide Spirit transmuted with the 'Animal species - Light attribute' Basic Transmutation Method actually turned out to be Fighting-type?"

"After all, it's the Basic—er, 'Random'—Transmutation Method…"

"Once again, the magic, attack, and defense are all flat like a bucket."

"With magic, attack, and defense each at 2300, it's actually not weak among five-star Magic Guide Spirits—but that depends on who you compare it with…"

"As an orange card, its three Ultimate Moves are decent, especially this 'Heart of Justice'!"

Dark suddenly sat up straight; this "Leomon's" Ultimate Moves really gave him a huge surprise!

[Beast King Fist: Leomon's ultimate secret art. It releases a lion-shaped energy wave from its right hand to finish off the enemy.]

[Shishiōmaru: An ancestral demon blade that Leomon rarely draws—the sentient "Shishiōmaru." Reason lowered, Attack +500.]

[Heart of Justice: Leomon possesses a strong will and a righteous heart; it is a naturally noble Hero. When facing evil, it can unleash power beyond imagination.]

As a fairly famous Digimon within the "Digimon Adventure" series, "Leomon's" image was very positive, always giving people a very reliable impression.

Especially the scene of it using "Beast King Fist"—majestic and domineering, it left a deep impression.

As for the demon blade "Shishiōmaru" at its waist… its presence really was very low.

That "reason lowered" side effect was probably no joke.

"Could it be that the madness factor was used here?"

"But with just this bit of a factor…"

Dark shook his head; his main attention was still on the later "Heart of Justice."

Punishing evil, eliminating wickedness, upholding justice.

This undoubtedly fell within the scope of "psychic power."

And its other layer of meaning was almost written plainly on the surface.

Dark decided then and there to first summon this "Leomon" out and take a look.

But "Leomon" was a five-star Magic Guide Spirit, and using Normal Summoning to summon a five-star Magic Guide Spirit required at least ten minutes as a baseline.

For people whose proficiency wasn't high enough and whose talent was lacking, this time would be even longer.

And if he didn't use Normal Summoning, he'd need two sacrifices…

The sacrificed Magic Guide Spirits would need at least half an hour or more before they could be summoned again.

It was hard to say which was more worthwhile.

"Ten minutes it is, then. I can't shortchange my own baby."

Dark finally sighed and began to cast Normal Summoning.

In the end, it took him a full twenty minutes to successfully summon this five-star Magic Guide Spirit.

And that was with his extraordinary talent and a smooth performance on the very first try.

Watching that robust, sturdy Leomon gradually materialize within the summoning light, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Magic Guide Spirits transmuted using the [Fruit of Pride] were born with intelligence.

The moment Leomon appeared, it knelt on one knee, its lion head slightly raised, and asked in a solemn tone: "Are you my master?"

Dark couldn't help reaching out: "Hello, Leomon. Please take care of me from now on."

Leomon's stern face relaxed, and it responded with a smile too: "It is my utmost honor to serve you. Here I swear an oath: with this body, this life, and this blade, I shall protect my master!"

This was the first time Dark had encountered such a formal first meeting. He couldn't help grabbing Leomon's gentle yet powerful big hand and pulling it up along with the motion.

His doubts about Leomon also vanished entirely the instant it stood up.

Standing perfectly straight, Leomon was tall and mighty, its lion face overflowing with dominance, yet its eyes revealed gentleness—at a glance, clearly an expert at looking after little ones!

Once he filled in the last piece of the puzzle after a while, he'd appoint it as the head teacher of the toddler class at the kindergarten in the Noble House's Room 201!

Leomon evidently saw the trust in Dark's eyes, and its gaze grew a few degrees gentler.

...

"Let's give it a try."

After sizing it up for a moment, Dark summoned Honedge.

Honedge released the ribbon wrapped around Gatomon and drifted leisurely over.

Over these past two days, Honedge had been inseparable from Gatomon, as if Gatomon were its true master.

Relying on the magic supplied by Gatomon, it was able to keep drifting around the bedroom.

Gatomon had even patiently taught it to read, and the two Magic Guide Spirits grew ever closer.

"Weaponize."

At Dark's command, Honedge transformed into its weapon form in the blink of an eye and flew steadily into his hand.

Dark casually twirled a sword flourish and tossed it to Leomon: "Try it—can you use it?"

Leomon opened its big hand and grasped the hilt.

It clearly had the skill to wield blades, and Honedge's length wasn't much different from its own "Shishiōmaru," so it felt quite handy.

"Clang!"

A soft sound.

The sword was out of its sheath!

Leomon swung the sword, and a holy white light radiated from the blade!

Though not as strong as Gatomon, it could evidently also wield this "Holy Sword"!

"It really does have the potential of a Hero!"

...

"Leomon's attack of 2300 is slightly lower than Gatomon's 2400, but its advantage in star rank lets it gain an extra 300 attack when using the 'Holy Sword.'"

"Its strongest single strike is likewise 8400!"

Dark quickly did the mental math and revealed a smile.

The appearance of a second Hero candidate raised the strength of his deck by another notch!

This gave him even greater confidence in winning the Easter Duel Festival!

But after Gatomon discovered that Leomon could also trigger the "Holy Sword," it frowned slightly, clearly feeling a touch of displeasure.

That feeling was just like having a toy taken away.

Not happy (??ˇ?ˇ??).

"Meow meow meow—"

For some reason, Meowth's laughter was full of delight.

It jumped down from the cat tree and hopped over to stand before Leomon, meowing at it nonstop.

Leomon's face was full of confusion.

Dark, however, couldn't help covering his face.

...

In just a short while, Meowth had climbed onto Leomon's broad, sturdy shoulder and looked down upon the bedroom's Magic Guide Spirits from on high, its face full of smugness.

Although there was a barrier in verbal communication between the two Magic Guide Spirits, that Honedge seemed to have become the bond connecting them.

Of course, there was another layer of bond between them…

Although Dark's dormitory was very spacious, it wasn't enough to let a big fellow like Leomon stretch its muscles.

Before it could apply for a Club Classroom in its second year, it would most likely only be able to become a Watcher within a Magic Guide Card, just like Meowth.

This was probably the "[Watcher Bond]"!

...

After verifying Leomon's Hero qualification, Dark still recalled Honedge and ordered it to "Spiritualize."

In its spirit form, Honedge ultimately still chose Gatomon, which eased Gatomon's expression somewhat.

After this, Dark gathered the Magic Guide Spirits together and went over the dormitory's rules and regulations once more.

Leomon listened very attentively. It sat cross-legged on the floor, naturally exuding an aura of affability.

Several Catnip—especially the Lion Grass—all very much liked to nestle up beside it.

It placed the Lion Grass in the crook of its leg and gently stroked it like a kitten; the atmosphere was harmonious.

Dark thought about it and didn't tell it the generational relationship between the Lion Grass and itself.

DemiDevimon, on the other hand, was grinning wickedly.

Taking advantage of the fitting mood, Dark picked up a picture book and told a few educational and entertaining little stories.

Amid the gently flowing sound of the stories, Leomon gradually blended into the group.

It sat properly and upright, like a well-mannered, courteous child.

It was only then that Dark realized that although Leomon looked composed and steady, in essence it was just a newly born infant, still some distance from true maturity.

Although a Magic Guide Spirit's personality had a certain framework at birth, the influence of nurture was likewise not to be underestimated.

In the end, Dark glanced at Gatomon, then instead entrusted the DemiDevimon with teaching Leomon to read and write. As for a bed at home…

Because all the beds he had prepared for the Magic Guide Spirits were small beds, regrettably there was no bed belonging to it for now; he could only assign it a cabinet for storing personal belongings.

Luckily, Leomon didn't need one either.

As the number of Magic Guide Spirits grew larger and larger, the insufficiency of dormitory space was exposed more and more obviously.

"Honedge, Wishful Die, Leomon… that leaves the Bloodthirsty Giant Axe and the Living Metal. The harvest from this dungeon adventure is just about all converted."

"Next, I need to set aside time to master their abilities…"

...

The long night was half over.

After recalling Drifloon, Meowth, and Leomon into their Magic Guide Cards, Dark could finally sleep in peace.

To look after the moods of the three Magic Guide Spirits, Dark even made three stands and stood their Magic Guide Cards upright on the desktop.

If they didn't want to actively go dormant, they could also look outside through the card faces.

Meowth was already very used to this method; it simply treated its Magic Guide Card as its own bedroom, going dormant directly each night after being recalled into the card, completely unaffected.

Leomon, being new after all, was full of curiosity in its heart toward this vast world it was encountering for the first time.

While no one was watching, it kept rotating its viewpoint within the frame of the Magic Guide Card, trying to observe every movement in the entire bedroom.

And then it naturally saw that cold and arrogant white cat climb down from the bed and burrow into its master's bedding.

"Hsss—"

Watching that white cat's smooth and effortless movements, Leomon determined on the spot that it must have been tempered through a thousand hammerings!

Gatomon, who had burrowed into the covers, also conveniently stuffed the Honedge hanging on its hand inside.

Leomon looked at that "Holy Sword" with a slight sigh.

It rather liked its own demon blade "Shishiōmaru"—it was just that the negative effect of lowering reason was really too much of a pitfall.

And the feeling that "Holy Sword" gave it was simply too good.

If it weren't a latecomer, it would definitely have gone to contend for it.

"What a pity."

Leomon sat down cross-legged within the Magic Guide Card and couldn't help narrowing its eyes.

But right after, it suddenly noticed movement within the Magic Guide Card beside it, and then its eyes bulged—it saw that dark green, ghost-like Magic Guide Spirit very naturally burrow out from within the Magic Guide Card!

This made it unable to resist reaching a hand forward to feel around.

But the invisible wall that appeared in front of its fingers made it realize that not just anyone could break through this wall.

"Its name seems to be Drifloon."

"How on earth did it do that?"

Just as the corner of Leomon's eye twitched, it saw Drifloon press against its Magic Guide Card, covering the entire "viewport"!

It frowned and tried to communicate with Drifloon, hoping to get it to move away through friendly exchange.

But its voice couldn't break through the barrier of the Magic Guide Card.

After a while, Drifloon drifted off to the side.

But before Leomon could breathe a sigh of relief, Drifloon drifted back again, completely blocking out the light.

After repeating this several times.

Leomon knew it was being toyed with…

It wasn't until Drifloon grew tired of playing that Leomon regained its peace.

And then it saw Drifloon actually slip out of the dormitory!

A trace of envy welled up at once.

"The world outside—what exactly is it like?"

Leomon was filled with longing.

...

March 12th, Monday.

Dark slept until he woke up naturally.

The first thing he did was get up and observe the Lion Grass, finding it sleeping peacefully, which set his mind at ease.

As long as the Lion Grass stayed normal, he could transmute more lion-type Magic Guide Spirits.

Over the long run, there would surely come a day when he successfully transmuted a "Coronamon."

It was just that the "Lunamon" was still far off, with no date in sight.

And who knew when that Rabbit Grass would finish being improved?

The Rabbit Grass and the Lion Grass had completely different problems.

The Lion Grass, though fierce, could at least be raised.

The Rabbit Grass, however, was so timid it would be scared to death by high-decibel sounds.

That was simply too fatal.

Even if it were conditioned with a "Major Sin" like the Lion Grass, the chance of successfully curing it was very low.

As Dark pondered, he walked to his desk and woke the three Magic Guide Spirits within the Magic Guide Cards.

During the daytime, he planned to summon these three Magic Guide Spirits out and let them study on their own within the dormitory until their magic reached a certain level, then recall them.

Then after school in the afternoon, once he returned to the dormitory, he would summon them out again.

The magic consumption of the three Magic Guide Spirits had already exceeded Dark's current rate of magic recovery.

This made it impossible for him to keep them outside all the time.

But as his magic grew stronger by the day, that was only a matter of time.

For now, he could only let them put up with a bit of grievance temporarily.

The setting sun sank in the west.

In the blink of an eye it was evening.

Dark sat down at his desk, preparing to write a passage of text on each of the chocolates used as return gifts, to welcome White Valentine's Day.
