"What do you mean by 'okay'?" Juliana Lancaster anxiously stood up, her gaze following her daughter as she took off her coat and hung it up before walking to the kitchen to pour a glass of water. Juliana followed her.
This was her daughter's first time meeting the family, and as her mother, Juliana was very concerned about what the in-laws thought of her daughter.
"Mom, it's just like that," Sophia Hamilton said dismissively while pouring herself a glass of water. She couldn't quite figure out Evander Lancaster's mother's attitude—she seemed polite but not particularly warm. Sophia wasn't sure if wealthy families all entertained guests this way.
After drinking half a glass of water, Sophia turned around and saw her mother standing at the kitchen door, watching her. Sophia scratched her forehead awkwardly and said, "I'm tired, I want to take a nap." With that, she headed to her bedroom.
