She wasn't actually asleep, just too uncomfortable to muster any energy, so she lay there with her eyes closed, waiting for him to return.
"Take your medicine first." Tan Qing handed the water he bought on the way back to her, then poured the pills into his palm and personally fed them to her.
"Why are you so good to me?"
After taking the medicine, Tong Xi's eyes were swollen and red. She looked at Tan Qing and asked softly.
Tan Qing's expression subtly changed, lowering his head for a moment before lifting it again. His long, narrow eyes held a faint smile: "Do friends need to ask that?"
The smile looked genuine, but only he knew how strained it really was.
He tousled her hair: "How did you get your hair wet after a bath? Miss Tong, how are you so careless?"
Tong Xi's heart ached sharply, but she forced a smile: "I accidentally slipped."
She didn't say she wanted to wake up by submerging herself. She was very awake now, fully aware that they were just friends.
