Lucas was stunned for a moment.
The streetlight was behind him, casting a glow on his face.
After a while, Lucas suddenly laughed and shook his head, "I... gave up a long time ago."
The words that followed were spoken very softly.
"From the moment you cried and told me you missed him, I knew that ultimately, there was no fate between us. It's my fault too..."
How things go wrong for no apparent reason, leaving one helpless.
"If you were wrong, I was wrong too," Chloe Grant had tears in her eyes, "I was wrong to mistake him for you, earnestly falling for him. Actually... truly... in the end, I really didn't know who the person in my heart was?"
"My heart yearned for you... but I couldn't forget him..."
As Chloe Grant spoke, tears uncontrollably rolled down, she shook her head and took a big gulp of beer.
The moonlight, the heartbreak, the forgetfulness, the beer... it all made for quite a scene.
