In the evening, as Easton Holmes just arrived at the gate from the Military Department, he saw Lily Turner standing at the door. Seeing him come in, she walked briskly towards him, making him think something big had happened at home, so he quickened his pace to meet her.
"Why did you come out to wait for me? I'm so honored!" As he met her, he reached out and took her hand.
"Don't joke around with me, I have something to ask you." Lily raised her other hand and slapped Easton, who was joking around with her, stopping his playful behavior. She continued, "Did you know my brother had a girlfriend all along?"
Facing her husband, standing side by side, she looked him straight in the eyes, waiting to hear how he would explain himself.
So she came out for someone else's business, he thought she had specially come out to wait for him.
